Sci-fi & Fantasy Art of Patrick J. Jones, The Hardcover – 20 Oct. 2016

I bought this book hoping for a male counterpart to the fantasy art of Anne Stokes. It is essentially an illustrated autobiography of Patrick J. Jones, which recounts the process of creating some of his most important works and includes colour sketches beside the finished artwork. I would have preferred it to have been divided by themes, sci-fi, fantasy, maybe horror, but it is chronological.

A superb artbook that is worthy in any collection. A look back over the artistic works of one of my favourite artists, Patrick J Jones, with commentary from the artist, which was a fascinating read into the inspiration of his artworks. With over 100 paintings covered in the book, some covered full page and sometimes in a double page splash, this book is definitely recommended if you adore fantasy and fantastical art.

An exquisitely presented book that represents the oeuvre of a singularly talented artist. Redolent of the great sci-fi and fantasy legends Boris Vallejo and Frank Frazetta (amongst others), Patrick's work stands out as distinctly original, evocative and powerful. An utterly beautiful collection, thoughtfully and elegantly compiled and a truly worthy addition to any lover of this genre art form.
