UPDATE: NEW RECOMMENDATIONS: (DRIVE SUDDENLY DIED AFTER ONLY 5 MTHS OF LIGHT USAGE)
After posting this review I heard from Vectotech Support Team. They were very responsive to my situation. Unfortunately they were unable to recover the data for me but offered to send the drive to a place that could. The Recovery cost would have been prohibited so I opted not to do so.Although Vectotech was unable to recover my data I find there response time and service to be excellent. They quickly expressed ship me a replacement drive. The nature of drives is that they can fail. I have had experiences with companies whose customer service was as dismal as their product. That is not the case with Vectotech. Therefore, I have deleted my "don't buy from this company" recommendation because of the way they stand behind their product and their excellent customer service. I would have give them five stars if they would have been able to recover the data. I will make purchases from this company again.Original Post With Edits:We lived streamed our Church Service yesterday as we have done for the last few weeks. We use this drive to record to. It worked flawlessly. But then yesterday, without any warning the drive simply stop loading onto our computer. The blue light still glows, but the drive itself with all of our precious footage is completely inaccessible. We tried accessing the data on several computers to no avail).

LONG TIME USER APPROVED
Edit:Been using this drive for 4 years and it is still going strong. I've been recommending this company ever since. Recently I purchased 8TB for my Macbook Pro 2019 running macOS Catalina and 4TB one for my Xbox. Speeds are faster than before with USB-C. Screenshots of the Crystal Disk Mark speed test are attached.Original review:VectoTech Rapid 500GB USB 3.0 Portable SSD is a great addition to my storage needs. I’ve been using it for some time now, so here is a list of pros and cons.Pros:1. Easy to use, just plug it in.2. Fast transfer speeds. I used BlackMagic speed test and I got 416Mb/s write speed and 421MB/s read speed (screenshot attached).3. Slick look.4. Lightweight (it's only 3.8oz)5. Shock resistant, it’s a plus when you move around a lot.Cons:1. Price. Well, it's an SSD, all of SSDs are pricier than magnetic disk counterparts. I needed the reliability and really wanted the speed, so had to pay a bit more.2. Comes in black. I can see from the picture that it comes also in white and grey, which would match better. Hopefully they will come out soon.Test:Macbook Pro 2015 Retina used for testing, 3 video files ~4.5GB each. Write takes 42 seconds, so it's 13.5GB * 1024 / 42 = 329MB/sRead is 31 seconds, which amounts to ~445Mb/s. I guess speed could be less, if I were copying a lot of small files, but that's tied to particularities of the file system.

Still working great after 3 months!
As a composer and musician in today's digital age, an SSD really is a strong recommendation, especially if you are working with large virtual instrument sample libraries. When I outgrew my first 250 GB SSD last year, VectoTech's 500 GB SSD seemed like a good upgrade, based on the reviews and price. Three months in and I haven't had any issues. The drive has a permanent home, connected to my work computer, so I can't speak to it's durability. When it comes to speed, though, it delivers everything I would expect from an SSD. It takes about 37 seconds to fully load a 3.66 GB Kontakt instrument from the SSD drive, while it takes just under 2.5 minutes to load the same instrument from one of my mechanical HDD drives.I have included a screen capture of some of the SSD drive's more technical information, using DriveDx, that may or may not be relevant to you. If you are a mac user, like me, I encourage you to wipe and then reformat this drive to APFS, when you first get it.All in all, I am very happy with this purchase!

Great SSD for the price
The product actually arrived quicker than expected and works just as it should. I mostly wanted it to have a sort of "currently playing" drive for my Xbox One and at that it excels. Load times are no longer an issue for any games I move into the drive, and the seller even went ahead and contacted me after the device had arrived to make sure everything arrived properly and in working order. The price point was honestly a key factor in my purchase, and this despite this not being a "name brand" like SanDisk, it does what I need it to do and does it very well.

Delivered on promises, speed and portability is great
It delivered on everything it promised. The capacity is great, it is very portable and lightweight, and the speed is fantastic.*Note* to get the full advertised speed, you need to use the USB 3.2 cable as well as a USB 3.2 port on your computer. If you computer or laptop doesn’t have this type of port, you will not get the full advertised speed. Not the manufacturer’s fault, you just gotta do your homework.I can’t answer for longevity, but I’m using this as a more permanent storage drive for all of my valuable files.
