The Civil War Letters of Alexander Mcneill, 2nd South Carolina Infantry Regiment

This is an amazing resource for anyone studying the Civil War. The detail in the letters is out of this world. Hard to believe such an awesome collection of letters survived the rigors of time and was able to be published. I found it especially interesting reading the letters nearing the end of the Civil War, and the author explaining his thoughts regarding the collapse of the currency system of the Confederacy.

Very interesting and articulate personal letters from solider Alexander McNeill written of his experiences in the moment. Keep in mind that these letters were never intended to be a book - Highly recommended.

Was disappointed about lack of military details on the battle he was involved in. However he is very eloquent in his letters to his wife, very affectionate and loving.
