Wings of Glory Duel Pack
I saw this game on Youtube. I have always been interested in military games and it looked easy to play.At the start it seemed very difficult to obtain but Amazon sent me an email to say more coming instock.I quickly ordered the Duel Pack as this YOU DO NEED if you're just starting. On other reviews people had got theirs in Italian and sure enough as I unpacked it on the back of the box it was in Italian. But I took the cellophane off and the false back fell off and on the box itself it was in English. Also there were manuals in English AND Italian! The planes are small but beautifully painted.I've only played it once on the basic rules and its good and quick to pick up.I'm very glad I bought it and will add more planes and advanced rules in the future.

Good basic equipment in one box
Be very clear, this does not include any of the planes (or their movement decks) that you need to play the game and at the time of writing, buying planes has become very expensive as it seems none have been manufactured for some time. However, if you can collect some planes, this is a brilliant game to play, and there are online helps to play a balanced solo game if you have no living opponent. Pretty quick to set up and learn the basics and there are advanced elements once you master the core rules. The WW1 planes are often very nicely painted and there are historical character pilots to add some colour to scenarios or dog-fights. On the whole, a great game, but wbe aware that this is just the first of many expenses to build a varied collection.

A great game
I took the plunge and bought the game after reading a lot of reviews across the wwww in general. This pack is a great way to get two plane models, cards etc as the two planes on their own would cost the same. A lot of the extra rules are available as downloads however the damage cards look to be hard to get hold of separately. I have played a few test solo games just to get an ides of the mechanics which are very easy to pick up and am now waiting for the xmas holiday to catch up with friends for a proper game

This could be an entry into a great game system, but is very good and enough by itself.
I was already familiar with this game system, but didn't have it available to me after a move. This pairing of the Fokker Dr.1 with the Sopwith Camel is the classic match-up, (remember Snoopy?) and works well for two: better than other pairings in the system. Even if you never get into the larger game, it is enough, Very nicely detailed plane miniatures, and easy to play.

Beware! No airplanes included, they need to be bought separately, and they cost more than this box!

This IS a starter pack ...
After searching in vain for the starter pack, I got around to reading the full text of this listing. There may have been an official starter pack at one stage, but in effect, this is a starter pack, as is the other in the Duel Pack series. Everything you need to start playing the game and the miniatures are nicely detailed.

Italian version? Twice
Well, I had the starter set, so decided to get the full rules set. The price on Amazon was good, so the order went off. I was mildly surprised when, upon opening the box, it was all in Italian. Amazon agreed that this was not as expected (they did provide good service), and sent out a replacement. Sadly, the replacement was also in Italian....To be fair to Amazon, they gave me a full refund, and didn't try any more replacements, but having the Italian version twice is a pretty big screw up.I eventually got it from somewhere else, and it is a great game. Easy to understand, quick to play, and lots of choices. Doing the obvious comparison to X-wing miniatures game, a big way WoG stands out is through having different manoeuvre decks for each aircraft, allowing for subtle differences.

Good value model plane. Compatible with Wings of War WW1
The plane is well made and comes in the usual easy to open pack. Quality is the same as the previous version (Wings of War) and the base and cards are similarly marked so this is fully compatible with the Wings of War WW1 game. My only negative comment is that the playing cards colour scheme has poor contrast so can be hard to see in low light. This is in contrast to the Wings of War cards which were very clear. Having said that they are still perfectly usable and the model was good value at £12 so I still recommend it.

Great fun for playing WWI dogfights
A fun simulation of WWI air combatByLS650on October 16, 2014Verified PurchaseIdeal for two people, although solo playing rules can be found via Google. There are six lanes included, so up to six people can play. More people will require more of the add-on airplane packs. The basic rules can be learned in five minutes, and the standard rules in another five or ten.The card system used for movement actually works very well, and ensures historically accurate simulation of the moves for each plane. The miniatures are tiny but nicely detailed; I think they're a bit too delicate for small children to play with. Overall W.O.G. is a fun game, although I find sometimes dogfights can drag on and on as you circle around each other, trying to get damage on your opponent.I recommend for someone who wants a fun simulation of WWI dogfighting, but without a lot of tedious rules and bookkeepping.
