Product Description ------------------- Suttons sunflower f1 full sun seed is a superb sunflower which has F1 hybrid vigour and is early flowering. The dramatic golden yellow flowerheads, 30 cm in diameter are borne proudly above the tree-like stems and rich green leaves. Long-flowering, free, and requires no staking. HA - Hardy annual. Medium/tall variety. Height 2 metre. Ideal for beds and borders, and for cut flowers. Attracts butterflies. Prefers full sun. A real favourite with children. Flowers like very large daisies with brightly coloured petals. Use petals and in salads and cakes. Culture: sow under glass March-April and outdoors April-June for flowers July-September. Sowing and growing : sow the seed thinly direct into finely raked, moist, warm, weed free soil where the s are to flower, 13 mm deep, raking in lightly (germination 7-21 days). As the seedlings grow thin in stages to achieve a final spacing of 30-45 cm. Support the s as they develop. For early blooms sow indoors in April, carefully acclimatising s to outside conditions and out mid-late May. Quality control: this seed has been carefully tested to ensure high germination.
