Monoprice6-String Cali DLX Plus Electric Guitar - Right Handed, Gig Bag, Solid Ash Body, Ivory - Indio Series

I ordered the guitar on the strength of their well-speced (for the money) Cali Classic Strat type guitar. At that time, it was advertised as "swamp ash." Unfortunately, it wasn't the lighter swamp ash, but just plain ash and weighed well into the 10 lb range. If you want a heavy guitar, you may love this one. I couldn't handle the weight and sent it back. Other thoughts: When it first arrived, it must have been stored some place really dry because it had the worst case of fret sprout I've faced. I put it in a humidified area and it got better but, almost every fret would have needed attention. They made a good choice with the Wilkinson-branded budget pickups and bridge. Sound was quite full. Since I bought this one several months ago, the price has increased by almost 50% and is well into the two hundred range. At that price point, honestly, there are plenty of better-speced guitars that will arrive ready to play and not need a lot of tech work such as Firefly. With these other brands, you can expect locking tuners, bone nuts and other plusses. While their higher end Cali dlx wasn't as good as today's competition from Chinese factories, their inexpensive Cali is still well worth a look for beginners and modders.

I bought mine as an Amazon return so I knew there were some issues, the tremolo arm is a snap-in vs screw in and mine did not work but that was no surprise. The guitar was not set up well but only took about 15min before I was playing some complicated riffs with ease. I was surprised how fast the neck is, straight, frets ends were well, frets didn't feel well polished but were not bad overall, very comfortable neck to play on. no high frets so no buzzing. The solid ash body is heavy, the Wilkinson pickups seem to be ok, tuners are ok, I think it's a good value for the money.

I have ordered Many guitars in this price range and this is the absolute worst one out of all of them. I have ordered Donner, Gearit, Cort, Firefly, Harley Benton, Agile, West Creek, Censtar and Jackson. All were better than this Guitar. First off, When they sent my order they sent me the wrong guitar and it was used not even new. I returned it and had to jump through hoops with amazon in order to get the coupon price that I got on it on a replacement. When the right guitar came All this talk about being professionally Set up in America is total garbage! To start off with most of the frets weren't even pressed into the neck and the ones that were had high points. Next was the fret sprout, It was so bad.It was like running your hands up and down constantine wire. And when I opened it up to look inside the groundwire wasn't even connected. I would recommend any other guitar than this one!

this guitar is amazing for the price and better than some expensive ones I own.nothing about it feels "cheap". minor cosmetic issues where the neck is attached.other than that I have zero issues.

2024 -- 60ISH HERE, BEEN PLAYING ALL MY LIFE. Everything I read on this is BOGUS ! The company is a LIAR !!! No Quality or checking prior to shipping. Tried to contact Monoprice, treated me like horse-hockey.. Avoid this guitar and go Squire/Fender... At least you know what you're getting and won't be treated like you have money to throw away... Learned my lesson here in Western ILLINOIS Chris G.

For someone on a real budget these guitars deliver a playing experience that allows for ease of learning and playing. Everything works and the neck is straight.
