Great for personal gardeners and those looking for a career in the industry
I really enjoyed this book. I am currently both redesigning my own front and rear garden, and finally putting the gears in motion to study garden design. I would say this book is useful as an intro to the industry, but also many practical advice on how to inspire ideas using various techniques which will take you from blank page writers block to ideas flooding forth, ready to be put on paper for consideration. The book covers every aspect of garden design including the business side of things, if a career is what you are after. I would say you couldn’t rely solely on this book for this purpose, but it is so thoughtfully and thoroughly explained that it is an excellent starter book.

The Bible on Garden Design.
As a former Student of the English Garden School, all I can say is not only is this book well up to date,on all current thinking relating to Garden Design this particular version may well become The Industry Bible on the subject for current and fututure students on the subject. So whether you are a gardener, looking for inspiration, or a Student starting out in your chosen horticultural career, or a landscaper perhaps needing to understand how a Garden Designer actually goes through their thought processes, then this is definitely The Book for your reference shelf so get out there and buy it you will not be disappointed.Jimmy Armitage.

Better for professional.
This book is more for someone wanting to become a professional garden designer and I think it would be very good for that purpose.I’m am a reasonably good amateur gardener with City and Guilds and RHS qualifications. The sections on how draw up bids for a client etc were a waste of space in the book for me - but great for a would be professional. The book has lots of essential information. It’s pretty comprehensive- but somehow uninspiring. Perhaps the amount of information showed just how complicated garden design is and was perhaps a blow to the confidence of an amateur?

Excelente libro
Me parece excelente por los temas que maneja y la forma practica de explicar el proceso de diseño de un jardín. Muy practico para alguien que ya sabe de diseño pero inicia en paisaje.
