I ended up taking my other keys (gas cap, hood locks) off and store them in my Jeep and I just carry the key with its Air Tag attached. I write my iphone number on my AirTag case too. It's cool, kind of tactical. I wonder if it shortens my key fobs distance for locking and unlocking the doors, but no problems so far. I changed my fob battery when I installed the key guard. No problems as of yet.

I figured there was no way to have my key on a key ring when the plastic loop broke off. Found this, got it, and it’s awesome. I got the red so my keys are easy to spot. Admittedly it does make the key a little bulky, but I’m not really bothered by that.
