Maclocks15 inch Bracket with Wedge Lock for Macbook Pro with Retina Display

I hated having to buy this for my new MacBook Pro, but needs must. But its not too intrusive, fit well and looks fine. Easy to fit, comes with all the screws and screw driver. Takes about 5 mins max to fit. Cast Aluminium or something similar. The little feet that it stands on do move around but with a little super glue this was soon sorted. It doesn't really distract from the Macs design. Little pricy for what it is, but cheaper than a new Mac. Lock lead is about 1.5 meters, with two keys, easy to operate and not really that fidderly. Overall a neat design.

I was sceptical about this product, but installing this on a brand new top-spec Macbook Pro was a five minute job with all the tools supplied. The bracket itself is completely unobtrusive and does not take from the lines of the Macbook at all.The cable simply clips in and is good and firm.Now, for the only catch. You do not need a key to lock the cable into your laptop - BUT YOU DO NEED A KEY TO UNLOCK IT.I had a very stressful time one evening at work when it came time to leave. I had locked my laptop to the desk like I always do; but I had left the keys on the corner cabinet at home.As you can imagine, I did not relish the thought of leaving my pride and joy locked to a desk overnight in Manchester so two hours later I was back in the office with the keys.The upshot is - this product is very good. Elegant in design and works perfectly.Not designed for muppets! So, if you're a muppet who leaves his keys at home, perhaps better to lock your laptop with a piece of string or a bag tie.

Unobtrusive and effective - complements the Macbook perfectly.Not cheap but but well worth the cost. Would definitely recommend it.

Good product - does what it says, but very expensive. Someone is making a massive profit here! Still worth it to stop computer being nicked - I work in a lot of press rooms, so need something like this, just think the price could have been fairer.

DO NOT BUY ! I bough this on 9th March. Today is 16th April and it is broken......I have used this about five times having bought it. It is god awful rubbish. The attachment to the laptop is good but the lock is PONY ! and now has stopped working all together. Avoid it. I just wish their was a good alternative.

This is only a deterant system, if a theif wants to steal your device, they will!The product appears to be the only minimal non perminant solution on the market.I bourght this to be able to secure my MBP while traveling, it works well enough. But sadly as it is a third-party add-on it has its flaws.2 months after use and one of the screws have worked its way out (possibly threadded) and one of the rubber feet have un-adheered from the base.5 months after use and now both rubber feet are missing.A stronger adhisve is needed for the feet or the feet fixed on though a hole.The entire product would be better if it was the whole base-plate of the macbook.

The quality is very poor. You can easily break it.I took my macbook to the apple store to change the battery and they didn't give me back the screws.I wrote to maclocks to check if they could send me new one. They asked me 45$.. yes 45$ dollars for a few screws. I couldn't believe it.

Acabo de recibir e instalar este candado en mi MacBook Pro Retina 15" Mid 2014. El systema parece bueno pero tienes que re-emplazar los tornillos originales de la tapa inferior de tu Mac por los que vienen con el candado, y estos no quedan EXACTAMENTE como los originales lo hacen. Es decir, no entran tan suaves como los originales. NO estaría seguro que si decido desinstalar el candado los tornillos originales entraran tan suaves como antes. Pero no lo he intentado ni lo haré si no es necesario.I just received and installed this lock into my MacBook Pro Retina 15" Mid 2014. The system seems good but you have to replace the original screws from the under cover of your Mac by the ones that come with the lock, and this ones do not fit EXACTLY as the original ones do it. This is, they do not enter so smooth as the original ones. I'd not sure that If I decide to uninstall the lock the original screws would enter as smooth as before. But I haven't tried and I won't do if not needed.

Dieses Schloss ist aus meiner Sicht das beste Schloss-System für MacBook Pro mit Retina Display. Ich habe mir einige andere Systeme angeschaut, aber diese sind meiner Meinung nach schlecht durchdacht. Z.B. gibt es manche, bei denen man eine Art Haken zwischen Body und Display durchstecken muss ... und kann dann leider das Display nicht mehr schließen; oder falls man es doch macht, ist das Display hin.Dieses Schloss dagegen wird ziemlich unauffällig mit dem Gehäuse verschraubt, passt sich dem Design ziemlich nahtlos an und bringt keinerlei Einschränkungen.Um auf ein paar andere Rezensionen einzugehen: es muss einem natürlich klar sein, dass das keine 100% sichere Lösung ist, um Diebe, die mit allem möglichen Werkzeug unterwegs sind, abzuhalten. Aber wenn man von Dieben ausgeht, die mit einem Bolzenschneider unterwegs sind, ist wohl kein Schloss sicher. Das Schloss hilft aber einfach gegen Gelegenheitsdiebe, wann man sein MacBook mal kurz irgendwo stehenlässt.Generell: Design finde ich super, passt zum MacBook Pro. Ist sehr leicht und unauffällig. MacBook steht sehr stabil. Die leicht Erhöhung der hinteren Kante (etwa 3 mm) ist nicht störend, sonder sogar ganz angenehm zum Schreiben.Einziges Manko ist der Preis - deshalb einen Stern Abzug. ... wäre schön, wenn Apple selbst einfach eine kleine Bohrung für Schloss-Systeme im Gehäuse vorsehen würde ;-)

Pros:- Does the job and only adds a few millimeters to the height of the MacBook, at the back.- Lightweigth, looks better than a plastic case.- Provided lock seems to be of good quality.- Easy to install.Cons:- This is not a Kensington compatible lock! It will ONLY work with the provided lock. Using another type of lock, for example a number combination lock will not work.- The small extension provided to lock the power cable is a nice touch, but it interferes with the lid when opening it and can damage the corner of the lid.- Expensive for the provided value and given it's not Kensington compatible.Would purchase a Kensington-compatible product instead if I had that choice.
