Q: Can you use it in any direction and don’t get the water split?

I haven't experienced any problems with leakage.I try to hold the steamer upright and move my arm up and down or left to right

It gets very hot - steaming hot water. It’s not just vaporized cold water.

Q: Is more watts better?

I would say yes, my experience tell me was it remove the wrinkles more fast.

Q: Do you have to keep pressing the button to steam?

No. You turn it on, it begins steaming after about 30 seconds, and continues until you shut it off.
