Excellent Results & Best Price
Article in Bon Appetite recommended this TYPE of brush for cleaning cast iron and carbon steel pans - I sort of chuckled... this is what the vegetable scrubbing brushes of my early days were made out of. Anyway, I picked these because they were the best bargain & I was skeptical as to whether or not they actually live up to BA's hype. So pleasantly surprised ! They may not !be "pretty" but they are scrubbing masters! Now I'm thrilled there were 6 in the package. I may share with my family...

Eco-friendly cleaning brushes.
We have a lot of brushes for cleaning the kitchen pots and pans, but they’re all either plastic nor wire brushes, and I wanted to try out these Tawashi brushes which are made from coconut fibers. They are stiffer than plastic brushes, but not as stiff as metal bristles. I’m afraid to use these brushes on my non-stick pans because I’m afraid it’ll scratch off the coating, rendering the pots and pans useless. There’s 6 of them per pack, so that’s enough for a good while, I think one should change brushes every 1-2 months, seeing as to how these brushes are made from biological and natural substances, making them more prone to bacterial and mold growth. They are very stiff out of the box, but they lose some of the stiffness after use, which is a good thing.I wished that these brushes had some sort of handle to them, as they’re very prickly to hold, and rough to the touch. You have to grip them by the sides and brush. The hook on top is nice for handing them on a hook to let them air dry after use. Some fibers do come off when you’re using them to scrub stuff, but not many, so it’s tolerable. We use separate brushes for scrubbing vegetables like potatoes and carrots, for scrubbing the bathroom tiles, and for scrubbing the wok. They scrub very well and it’s easy to get the grime and gunk that encrusted on the surfaces off with not much elbow grease. Plus, they’re good for the environment and biodegradable.

Multiple uses
Great versatile brush. A bit stiff and shedding out of the package but gets easier to use after a few times. I used to only rinse my vegetables under running water, but now I enjoy using a tawashi as it gives it a more thorough clean. The bristles, or coconut coir, are great for washing pots with burn on bits as well as on a cast iron. I decided to use the brush on my grill grates prior to discarding it and now I found a new use for it as it works awesome. Definitely a lot safer than any wire brush that can leave strands behind. As a bonus, these are environmental friendly.

Endless uses
Pack of 6 Tawashi 100% Natural Coconut Coir Fiber Brush, Ideal for Vegetable and Fruit Scrub, Kitchen Cleaning NeedsI had never heard of these brushes before. At first I thought they were replacements for the scrubbing portion of a toilet brush. They could probably work well for that, but I haven’t tried it yet. So far the brush has done a wonderful job of cleaning vegetables gently but thoroughly. My cast iron pan also looked great after just a bit of brushing. The biggest surprise was when I took one outside to test on our grill. I didn’t have time for a big cleaning, but just doing a small area showed the brush’s potential. Best of all, it didn’t require much effort. After using the kitchen brush, I just rinsed it out and hung it up to dry using the metal loop.I really like that these are biodegradable, eco-friendly items and that producing them secures a livelihood for families in Sri Lanka. At just a little more than $2.00 for each brush, these are a worthwhile purchase.

Not so great
I really like the idea of these natural cleaning brushes, but they lose bristles to easily. I use them mostly to wash my fruits and vegetables, but they constantly lose bristles and mash down quickly after cleaning potatoes. If they were more sturdy and didn’t lose bristles it would be a better product.
