Joe Walsh: From the James Gang to the Eagles

I was skeptical..
I just finished the book. Good read. On a personal note, I'm a good friend of Joe's long time drummer Joe Vitale. So it was nice to see his name and stories in the book. I met him when I was a 17 year old working for Ted Nugent, and Joe was his drummer in the summer of 1972. Then amazingly (after 20 odd years) when I was hired as Dan Fogelberg's lighting designer, and the band walked in for sound check, who's his drummer? And if that wasn't enough, when I got the gig to light CSN in 1996, who's their drummer? Crazy.Sorry, I got off track.. Great story. And as I grew up in the Detroit area, I was lucky enough to see the James Gang at the Grande Ballroom! Not the 3 piece, the original band.In closing, as much as I've always loved Joe Walsh, I NEVER EVER liked the freaking' Eagles. NEVER owned one of there albums. There I said it. But their story was interesting as well, so there is that.

Fun read!
Joe Walsh is a character for sure. Loved the Eagles concerts 35 years ago and again in 2018. He sure always made the shows memorable for me - even though his guitar solos sometimes felt too long! For this fan, that music is timeless. I would have liked to see the Hotel California tour as well, but couldn't spare the money after covid. Too bad.

Great Bio
Enjoyed it and never realized all the music Joe has played, learned, wrote and in some extent lived! I say read this bio.

The Wild Man Of Rock And Roll
Joe Walsh is an intriguing subject. He's known for chainsawing motel rooms, substance abuse, and especially as a fantastic guitar player and half of the electric guitar duo of the Eagles. Some of the info in this book that I appreciated the most were:* Joe Walsh's home state. It isn't really Ohio.* His views on the Eagles breakup.* How he came to become a member of the James Gang and later on, the Eagles.* Some of his relationships without getting smutty.* The inspired story of Joe Walsh beating addictions.Joe Walsh is an entertainer and this book hits the mark in that category.

One of the all time greatest guitar players
A fabulous read about the great and humble Joe Walsh. His rock and roll history is diverse and equally as important as his contributions to Eagles. He has played rock and roll for the planet and his talents have been captured on records as a session player or band member. This is one of the best rock history books I have read. Joe Walsh for President is still a valid thought today. High Recommended!

Very informative
This was a very informative read . It covered Joe Walshe's life from a very early age and with very good detail. Also there are many times within the story that the author and Joe combined and made informative statements regarding his personal life or of his music. I have very much enjoyed reading and learning about the life of this great guitar man Joe Walsh . This is a good book .

Loved the book
Lots of detail. Lots of shenanigans. Lots of band and song history. Lots of history regarding other musicians that Joe played with or interacted with. An overall good read, well researched.

A bit long
I bought this because I could not find an autobiography for Joe. The author has obviously spent years putting this together, but it's not personal enough for me. Lots of band listings, dates etc. People who want to know everything about his career and a little bit about his personal life, will enjoy it.
