So lovely!
I recently became obsessed with a compote that I tried at a German-fusion restaurant. I wanted to replicate it at home, so I purchased a bottle of rose water. Shortly after Valentine’s Day I read an article about repurposing V-day roses by making rose water from the petals. Since we are not traditional gift givers, I didn’t have old roses laying around. However, the idea stuck in my mind, so I ordered this packet of dried petals. Of course, I haven’t attempted this rose water recipe yet, and I’m somewhat embarrassed to say that the petals look SO delightful in their package that I just stuck them in a jar and have enjoyed their decorative aesthetics for a number of weeks.I finally pulled them down and opened the bag to an amazing aroma. Since they are in fact edible, I cheated a bit and used the petals rather than the rose water in my rendition of the compote which is really a blood orange salad with rose and mint.I’m a great fan of these petals! The quality is outstanding, and the taste is the essence of what you would imagine roses to taste. My only minor complaint (which is shared in the product description,) is that 0.35 ounces is not a lot of petals. I’m going to need five times this amount when I finally commit to making rose water. The photo depicts what the petals look like before opening. I forgot to take a photo of the petals in my orange salad. Aren’t they gorgeous?

Crushed to a powder
I am giving this product three stars because I bought two… one arrived alright, the other crushed to a powder. There is not enough air in the bag to protect the delicate petals from being ground-up during the shipping. However the product itself is high quality, very potent floral scent and a bright pink color. If the product wasn’t damaged I would give 5 stars.

I didn't expect to ingest these
I got these with the plan to make soap, and I know these would be great for that. Nice color, nice sized pieces. These would work great in soap. But the whole edible thing intrigued me, so initially I just had these sitting in the package where I could just look at them. I finally opened it up and tasted a couple of the petals. The taste is interesting, but there was something about the texture that I didn't particularly love.So I tried them as a tea, pouring hot water over a small handful and using a honey stick. Yummm. I used to be pretty good about getting up in the morning and starting my day with a hot, water-based beverage. often that would be lemon or lime juice with honey. I had to drink that before I allowed myself to have coffee, and I found that I felt better and drank far less coffee.I'm finding the same thing with this. And I just feel like I'm doing something good for me. Plus it smells nice. With the rose petal tea, I am tossing the used petals out to the chickens, so they benefit a bit too.

Lovely fragrance
These dried roses had a nice fragrance. I used them in a recipe to make rose water, which smelled so nice when cooking, and made a pretty pink, fragrant rose water. Unfortunately, the recipe I used possibly called for them boil too long, because the rose water ended up bitter, but I don't blame the product for that. The quantity was a bit less than I needed (there was less than one cup of rose petals). That being said, this could vary by some settling in the package or for other reasons. I just wanted to mention that, since it can be hard to tell how much there is from photos. The petals made quite a lot of rose water. I used some of it to make rose water lemonade. The bitterness isn't noticeable in the lemonade, and it just gives a very light hint of floral flavor to the sourness.I'm happy with the rose petals--the only slight disappointment was having to use them all up for the recipe I used. But I was happy with the quality and fragrance.

It's like eating a little piece of rose-colored happiness.
Now, I gotta admit, when I first heard about eating flowers, I was like "What the heck?" But then I tried these bad boys and holy cow, they're delicious! They taste like if a flower and a piece of candy had a baby. And they're pink! How cute is that? It's like eating a little piece of rose-colored happiness. But here's the best part - these rose petals are all natural, so you don't have to worry about putting any weird chemicals in your body. Plus, they're fancy as heck. If you serve these at a party, people will think you're like, a queen or something. And let's be real, who doesn't want to feel like a queen? Sprinkle a little on top of a dessert and they will think you are amazing. So if you're looking to add a little sweetness, fanciness, and panache to your life (and your taste buds), give these rose petals a try.
