With over 10,000 copies now sold, Postural Assessment is a comprehensive, user friendly guide to assessing posture. It includes tips that will enable you to perform your observations in a confident and competent manner. This book focuses on what posture reveals about the relationships among various body parts so that you can be better informed about whether such relationships are causing or contributing to pain or discomfort. The empasis is on the assessment of static posture in standing and seated positions. This is the latest book by Jane Johnson in the Hands On Guides for Therapists and is written for complete beginners in the use of postural assistant as an examination tool which will generate ideas about what to look for , how to identify common postural forms and how to make sense of your observations. Review: Excellent resource - I'm in the middle of a Pilates teacher training course, and found this book to be invaluable in learning and understanding postural assessment and the possible causes of the muscle imbalances. It is detailed and easy to understand and has been a book that I keep coming back to and understanding a bit more each time. Review: A "Must Read" for every Massage Therapist - I downloaded this to my Kindle but will be also buying it in paper-back form for my library. It should be on every Massage Therapists essential reading list. Quite simply put, it is easy to read and understand with clear illustrations and photographs to aid you. A step by step guide in preparing for and carrying out Postural Assessments. I recently did a Postural Assessment CPD workshop and it was frankly useless...I would've learnt more by just re-reading and applying the techniques in Jane Johnsons book!

Good for reference
I have been a professional sports therapist for 16 years, and to have a book like this for a quick reference check is amazing. I have several of Jane`s books, they are all very well laid out, and easy to follow for the new therapist, as well the seasoned therapist. This is definitely one to have on your reference shelf.

Very good
Brilliant book. Has really helped me with postural assessments for clients. Looks daunting at first but you can get through it easily.

A great book
What a great book, there are plenty of books on postural assessment but they are too long winded and over complicated this book by Jane has enough information and actually makes sense, it's in plan English too. I'm a massage therapist working for more than 7 years and this is a great book to go back to again and again.

Think twice before buying the kindle edition
Kindle Edition: This an excellent book let down by its illustrations in the digital edition. Some of the pictures appear as small 1.5 x 2 cm images, which are too small to get a full understanding of what is being presented. In many other books this is not an issue as it is simple to enlarge them on screen, however with this book the images have been so compressed that there is no further information to be seen when zoomed in. Similarly many of the tables are presented as images that are too compressed to easily read the text. Basically the digital conversion has been done on the cheap so that the book looses much of its impact in this form.

If you're a body worker, get this. Helps identify vital clues as to where to work.
This book was exactly what I was hoping for. As a Sports Massage Therapist, it's great to use alongside other reference material to really boost understanding of what the client's body is telling you. Which is key to delivering a good service.

This is a great reference.
As a personal trainer, I found this book very helpful in taking a closer look at some of the subtle postural imbalances and how they can affect training. The photos and explanations were clear and direct. This is a great reference.
