These star shaped lights plug into a USB outlet. Our camper has a couple of USB ports, and the string of lights is long enough to wrap completely around the ceiling and still reach the USB port near the floor. They have a nice warm glow at night, and provide softer light than the overhead LED fixtures.You could plug them into a standard outlet if you use a USB charger, or plug them into a battery pack made for recharging phones. These are pretty nice for places that don't have AC power, like tents and campers and the like.

These lights are great and turned out perfect for my baby room! My only complaint is that every time you turn the lights off and then back on they default back to the flashing strobe setting and you have to push the button to get them to the "stay on" mode. I like that they can plug into the wall rather than battery operated, but you do need the adapter for this since it is USB.

I hung these lights up in my dorm room, and I loveeeed them! I had them up for like 10 months, and I never had any issues with them at all! My only complaint is that when you first turn the lights on the automatic setting is this insane strobe light flashing effect and you have to click like 7 times to get to just the steady lights. Other than that, though, it's one of the best deals for the price and the cuteness and effectiveness and the length!

Recently, I bought these string star lights (2x) and I have to say they are just wonderful. I decorated my fiancé's room to add some light and design. After placing them on along the edge of the room, and turned it, it was absolutely stunning. The remote controls both set of lights, which is awesome, and having different modes and light dimmer makes it more fun. Plus, it is USB powered so no batteries needed. Will definitely be buying more in the future.

Nice soft warm light and cheap but VERY annoying that it doesn't remember the settings you use. (Has seven preset effects.) If you dare turn it off, it defaults to a psychotic strobe flashing running through all the settings, and you have to push the mode button repeatedly to get the steady-on effect. (Seven times, to be precise.) Every time. Who designs a product that defaults to psychotic strobe light? These guys. Any product designers listening: the default should be steady on, not a strobe effect that can trigger seizures in people.Also, you need a USB power adapter that willl plug into the wall otutlet as it doesn't come with one. Contrary to the listing you would NOT ever put these outside... with a USB adapter? Bad idea.**** Update:The seller asked me to remove my negative review in exchange for a free selfie stick. This is actually a very cool product. The fact that you can control the lights remotely via the remote control makes this very convenient, especially if you are using them outside. The holidays typically bring cold weather and it would be great not to have to set foot outside to turn the lights on and off! As long as you factor in the usb, you are good to go!

What a pleasant surprise! Just opened the box and quickly plugged in to a USB port, which makes it usable anywhere!These star string lights are extra long at 34 ft. and w versitle settings from constant or twinkling to flashing, etc! I plan on using them in a starry night pool setting for my daughter's graduation, celebrating earning her MA MFT in Art Therapy! Stars for a Star!!

these lights *outshined* all the other options because 1. it comes with a remote, which makes it easy to turn on and off (although you must be in a certain range in order to do so) 2. cheaper than a lot of options and 3. they're really beautiful! set-up took no time at all and it was just what i wanted for my dorm.
