Foam packed arrived intact
I don't know anyone that has brand loyalty for refractory bricks, at the end of the day I just wanted one that wouldn't arrive broken. I saw another review on this single brick that showed it packed on all sides with foam sheets. No one else on amazon was offering that sort of packaging, so I went with this one. It wasn't the lightest or cheapest, but it arrived in perfect condition and was packaged just like you can see from pics from other reviews with the padding on all sides. Excellent.

Nice brick .. i'll need to get some additional ones for my project
I'll start this review by saying I'm not intending to use this for a fireplace or any of the traditional firebrick uses. Instead I'm using it to build a Lithium battery charging area for my workspace. I looked at the big box stores and didn't like the bricks that I found. Saw this one here on Amazon though and thought I would see if it would work. This is a nice brick. Touching is doesn't leave grit on your hands and feels rough but not sharp. It's also nice and light weight but also feels strong. I put a torch to the brick just to see how well it would handle the temps I want to use it for. My Flir doesn't have the range to test the full heat this brick is rated for though. As you can see from the test I did the brick dissipated the heat very well on both the middle, edges and backside of the brick. While I only ordered one brick these come in multiples as well. I'll be ordering more for my project as they will work perfectly.*Note.. the only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because I couldn't fully test to the rated temperature. From my initial tests of 1/3 of the rating though it looks like they will do well.

Superior Fire Bricks
These refractory firebrick blocks are rated for temperatures up to 2700°F, making them ideal for even the hottest of uses. The pack comes with 6 fire bricks, each measuring 9 x 4.5 x 2.5 inches. These are the perfect size for most applications, and the pack is priced affordably. They come well-packed in dense cardboard with dense foam packing which is reusable to repack them between uses. The bricks are precise in their measurements and have no blemishes. I mention re-use because you can put together a forge, and then re-stacked for a torch table, or blocking for soldering copper tanks or vessels. One thing that really stood out to me about these fire bricks is their insulating properties. They are designed to provide superior insulation, which means that they will keep the heat in your fire where it belongs. This is especially important to me to block the heat in where I need it. It also avoid wasting a lot of full on trying to bring an enclosure up to temperature. The heat is reflected off these bricks, and not absorbed into them like hardware store firebricks.Another great thing about these fire bricks is their durability. They are made from high-quality refractory materials, they are built to last. You can expect to get many years of use out of these fire bricks, even with frequent use. You may see darkening on these bricks from soot from your fuel, but it's not from any materials used in these bricks.Installation is also a breeze with these fire bricks. They are fairly lightweight and easy to handle, which means that you can easily place them where you require them without any trouble. They also fit snugly together, which helps to create a tight seal and prevent any heat from escaping.Overall, I highly recommend the JJ Home Goods Insulating Fire Brick Pack. These fire bricks are high-quality, durable, and provide excellent insulation. They can quickly be stacked or laid out on a bench for working with torches. Very versatile, and can be reused in future projects.

Exquisitely wrapped at 2-3 times the price
Between my partner's blacksmith shop, my jewelry studio, and the glass and clay sculpting studio kilns, we use a LOT of fire brick. We typically pick them up locally for $8 per single brick or $72 for a pack of 12 ($6 each), but we were interested in seeing if it would be easier to just include them in an Amazon order.Firebrick have a lot of uses: Stack them to make a protective wall for use with a torch, spread them across a flammable surface to protect it from heat, carve into it to make fast, low-detail molds for molten metals or glass, or use to repair furnaces, fireplaces, and ovens/stoves that produce a lot of continuous heat. They're excellent for constructing impromptu barbecues, and if you're a glassworker or ceramicist, they're a great way to arrange shelves and supports in a kiln. The point is, you rarely need just ONE firebrick; they're useful enough that it's handy to keep a few around, especially because they are also fragile. The fire brick box arrived a couple of days ago, beautifully wrapped--literally, you could give this as a gift. Inside was one standard fire brick. Nothing wrong with that, but at $16.89 it's more than twice the price we pay even for a single brick, and nearly three times the price of buying a box of bricks.So...it's a good fire brick, but too expensive for what you get.
