Super helpful and valuable information!
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5/5Genre: non fiction, self/help, parentingPages: 183 📃Review:This is a very informative book. It dissects ADHD from top to bottom and goes over everything in great detail! The author, Elaine Hogan, did a really thorough job going over all things to do with ADHD.I like how the author used real data and from the very beginning, she defined what ADHD is. She gave examples of famous people who were diagnosed with ADHD to connect with the readers and shed light on the disorder- that’s it’s not an impairment. On the contrary she shows how many people reached great achievements having ADHD.Something I really like that the author did was debunk some of the top myths of ADHD. Many people,Especially parents, have a guilt trip thinking they did something wrong or they have bad parenting skills- which is not the case. The author proceeds to list symptoms based on child’s age which is good for readers to dive into for specific information for their child. The author then goes on to explains how to get tested for ADHD and what options you have to help “ease” the symptoms of ADHD (medical or natural).Furthermore, the author gives examples of real-life case studies, which again is great for readers to relate to. It offers excellent and well thought out ideas for parents to work with their children and how to help children who are in school dealing with ADHD.It goes over and gives examples of diets, sleep habits, hygiene and exercises to help.Another great aspect of the book is that it gives guidance on helping their child with social skills and other functional skills. She also included a whole chapter on dealing with emotions which is a huge concern with people who have ADHD.Lastly, It closes with helping you as a parent or the patient of the disorder, deal with it all as well as setting up your child/you for future success.I see no reasons to give this book anything less than 5 stars. It’s a quick read and again very helpful and informative. It’s also based on facts and research (which she lists as references in the last 20 pages! This can help everyone understand ADHD even if they do not personally have ADHD or a child with ADHD.

A Perfect Roadmap for Any Parent Navigating Life with a Child With ADHD
This book is a must-have for any parent navigating the complexities of raising a child with ADHD! It's also a great resource for teachers; I don't have kids myself, but I work with kids regularly as a riding instructor, and I found this guide to be well worth the read! I like to stay educated so I can approach each student with a lesson plan that is tailored to their individual needs, and I personally learned a lot. The book is well researched, and backed with several reputable sources, but it doesn't read like a textbook; it flows so easily, and the whole thing is broken down into very digestible bits that offer incredibly practical suggestions, tips, and solutions. I love how there are applicable case studies sprinkled throughout, and the section that encourages communication and collaboration between parents and teachers was handled beautifully. Both parents and teachers want what is best for the child, but disagreements as to how to go about achieving that can arise; this book gives really clear-cut and smart ways to approach creating a successful collaboration. You get specific and detailed information without feeling like you just read a bunch of complicated medical jargon, and you don't feel like you're being preached at. It is really apparent that the author is coming from a place of sincere compassion and isn't trying to push any agenda. Everything feels so personal; the last thing anyone wants is to feel alone and overwhelmed when faced with a mental illness diagnosis, but this book really provides just as much support as it does practical solutions. And the last section about self-care for parents is awesome and so important! It's easy for parents to forget that they need to prioritize themselves in order to best care for their kids and this practical reminder is loaded with great ideas! I really think there is something for everyone in here. The book flows well, and the organization is great! Definitely recommend!
