yes, the large main space, side pocket and front pocket can hold all your essentials, such as your Sunglasses, sun protection, cell phone, wallet, keys, etc.

Sorry, we do not have the phone charger built in.

Q: does this bag "stand up" by itself when placing on the ground?

For the most part, yes. If you place heavier items in the top zippered pockets there is a chance it can tip over. I place slippers/tennis shoes in the bottom pocket and the bag sits upright.
