Good Psychological Thriller
I was surprised how good this book was. The author has the talent and ability to write nail biting scenes with conviction that will keep you turning the pages. The only flaw in the book I found, and it should have been pointed out when it was proof read, was when the main protagonist murders a prostitute. I mean, how can you strangle someone when you've got four broken fingers and your hand is in a cast?Apart from that it was a very well written story. Readers will find themselves rooting for the killer, mostly because his victims were both repugnant people.

Gruesome and compelling page turner
It takes real skill to craft a page turner about a lowlife character that you can't stop reading about. Bill Moss, central character in "Cold Caller" is a serial liar, and his life spirals increasingly out of control in this New York-based tale of work in a telemarketing company. It also takes skill to make such a work environment a compelling backdrop to a story, but Starr does just this, and the chapters literally fly. As Moss's life descends into madness, chaos and violence, the plot turns become a little unlikely towards the end, but the book retains a queasily compelling quality as we race to find out what happens in the end.Currently selling on Kindle for a mere 0.99pence, (as at date of review). anyone looking for a new author to try, or who enjoys well-crafted suspense, should certainly give this one a try. Hard to put down once you get started on it.

fast paced and hugely entertaining
This book was good! I stayed up until I finished it at 2am and today my eyes look like the book cover - that is how good it was.The pace was fast and relentless, it was well written, and it had me hooked to the last page. This is a fascinating story about an ordinary but ambitious man in New York who just happens to have a psychopathic mentality. He is so upwardly mobile he will stop at nothing to get what he wants. And yet he is quite a nice person really. Just frustrated with the cards that life has dealt him. This was the first book of Jason Starr that I have read and I am happy to be lining up the rest of his books for more good reads.

Finally a book I can finish!
Having young children and a busy life I have increasingly little time to read. This book is the first one I've had the patience to finish in a long time. Nothing against fine, descriptive narrative but that's not a style I can handle right now. Jason Starr writes in a very direct fashion. No scene setting, just straight to the point. It's a really unique method and is very effective in this sub 200 page book. I'm off to read another, as I think I may have found the author for me.

just buy it
Only Starr can make a call centre the main attraction in a novel. Well paced and enjoyable read.
