A classic
I raised two boys in the '80s with this book, and when they grew up and had children of their own, it was the first book I thought of. My youngest son and his wife just had their first, and he was tickled to get thissurprise in the mail. Obviously, the baby is too young for it now, but when he's 4 or 5, it'll make a lasting impression on him.

Kids love this book
I grew up reading this book and I had a copy of it, but somewhere along the line I got rid of it. Now I'm a teacher and I wanted to read it to the kids in Headstart; I thought they would like it. And when I purchased it, I became nostalgic and the kids Loved it. Thank you for this copy. I'm thinking of getting another copy soon.

This always a favorite in my program of preschoolers
This is my favorite children's book for preschool age children. I've taught several groups of children over the past 20 years and this book is always one of their favorites. It is a book written so the reader can use a lot of expression. It helps children learn how to meet their fears and develop confidence.

Takes me back to my childhood!
I went on a book buying spree to gather all the books I loved as a child to share with my own children and this is one of them . I love the feel of this book. The pictures are so retro and the story is nice. Harry overcomes his fears to find his mother. Both of my children enjoy it and ask me to read it on a regular basis. The book I ordered came brand new, in great condition.

my favorite when I was a kid
I got this book when I was a kid, and read it probably a thousand times. I was just like Harry - afraid to go in strange, dark, and unknown places. My heart swelled when Harry stood up to the Whatzit, in the interest of protecting his mother. I definitely related to that. I'm sure lots of other kids did, too.I bought a copy for my son (I kept mine for myself...sentimental reasons), and it's become one of his favorites. We have a wonderful time when we read it together.

This is a cute book that my husband loved as a child
This is a cute book that my husband loved as a child. So nice to find it here! The story is about a little boy who has a terrible whatsit in his basement. I love the way he solves his problem, it is a funny and cute book. My kids enjoyed it as well.

Still fun to read even after 30 years
I love this book. I bought this for my kids to replace a very old, tattered copy that my mum bought me when I was a child back in the 80's. It is still just as good now as it was back then.

One of my daughter’s favourite childhood storybooks
My daughter and I’d favour story to read before bed. We lost most of her favourite storybooks and I’m trying to replace them, so that she can read to her future child.
