Creative, original, easy to follow, INSPIRING!
I originally bought this book as a gift for my daughter, but then decided to get myself a copy! An amateur at embroidery, I was largely drawn to this book because the photos are eye candy (check out the plant in the first photo), and I enjoy looking through beautiful craft books when I'm looking for inspiration. I am happy I indulged, because this book has also taught me ways to use thread and fabric to create textured, tactile landscapes that look real! As if that wasn't enough, the book is also a useful reference guide that teaches about a variety of different stitch types. I am now a fan of the picot stitch (see photo), and I'm starting to imagine other types of landscapes from my own experiences. That means that this book has been transformative for my artistic process, even as I begin my journey of learning more about hand embroidery. I love the originality that the author imparts in each example. These embroidery projects aren't the old school projects that I remember from my childhood (hearts and "home sweet home" motifs). Even if you aren't a big sewer, this book is a joy to peruse! I have had a bit of experience with one of the author's DIY kits (I loved making her version of a Lily Pad Pond), but now I am looking forward to trying my hand at making my own landscapes! I highly recommend this book!

Wonderful Stitching Resource!
This is a great book of wonderful embroidery projects. It starts with some basics, including an amazing stitch glossary. Then each pattern includes a short introduction, a list of supplies needed, a stitch guide and then step-by-step instructions with clear and up close photos.Patterns range from beginner to advanced and I want to do them all. They are very accessible— if you have some DMC, fabric and a hoop, you’re pretty much ready to go. If not, they are easy to find and not at all expensive.
