Hamster House Penthouse

Bought this as a spare for my Hamster Heaven. My hamster nests in it and uses the corners as a toilet sometimes so it's useful to have spare I can quickly swap in and clean the other one thoroughly ready for next time.

I bought this add-on Penthouse for my Savic Hamster cage and both my hamster and I are very pleased with it - you can never have too many distractions to keep a hamster occupied and this works a treat. My only issue was, for personal preference, the cage door on top of the original cage needed taking off and re-attaching the other way round so that the penthouse faced forward, 5 minutes work with a pair of needle nosed fixed it. Please note, despite the packaging box and the picture on Amazon's website showing a couple of ideally suited ladders the actual item has no such ladder and the entry on Amazon doesn't promise them either, but you will need a way for the hamster to climb up such as the Trixie Living Ladder which I simply bent into an arched shape

These keep on breaking and are very brittle which is very annoying. I am on my third one now - in 6 months. These are the only people who sell them which is frustrating.

Hamster loves it, easy to clean, but they keep cracking, been through several.

My hamster loves this penthouse and spends 90% of his time in it. However they crack very easily which can be dangerous for the hamster. I've ordered 2 new ones over the last 10 days (to replace another cracked one) and both have arrived damaged/cracked from different suppliers so it's clearly a common fault. Manufacturer needs to use a more durable plastic and suppliers need to post them in a box rather than just a plastic bag.

My hamster loves this penthouse and moved in within minutes of my adding it to her cage. She is now gnawing on the corners, so I imagine I'll have to buy another one soon. I do find it hard to clean, especially as the hamster uses it to store food on one side and as a toilet on the other. It's difficult to remove from the cage and the tube underneath. Other than that I'm really happy with it and my hamster is too - she sleeps in it for many, many hours each day.
