Davina - Super Body Workout [DVD]

5 weeks on...
"After reading a lot of reviews about this DVD online I could not wait for it to arrive. And yesterday it finally did.I did Supersculpt with the extra leg workout - and it was great! It really got my heartrate going and I was sweating a lot (lovely, I know). And today my legs hurt a bit but it feels good because I know if I keep doing these exercises they will tone up nicely!Definitely recommend this DVD, it appears to be able to do the trick!" (Original Post)5 WEEKS ON....I have been doing the superbody workout DVD for 5 weeks now, usually 3-5 times a week.I have not lost any weight but my stomach muscles are starting to show almost permanently, not very wow and out there like maybe Davina's sometimes, but it's a start.I just purchased her High Energy 5 DVD as well and did a segment of that yesterday... it really seems that Super Body is harder! It definitely gets me sweating a lot more and faster than the "older" DVD of hers.I am in 2 minds now whether to buy Davina Fit because although I have seen results in my stomach, the rest is really not that amazingly different plus there has been no weight loss, which might be down to building muscle but is still annoying :)I think all the reviews on here helped push me in the direction of buying both DVDs, and I am glad I did, but as to effectiveness I think it really depends on your individual body build, how much body fat you have to burn etc.I can imagine that if you are buying this DVD to lose a lot of weight the healthy way then it will do wonders for you.But if you are just trying to lose a few pounds to get down to ideal weight then it seems to take absolute aaaaageeeees - but that would be the same whatever workout you did, so I will try and bite my teeth and get on with it.The segments:I really recommend Super Legs, it will make you want to take a break sooo badly, but if you pull through you will feel you have done a good workout! It starts with a warm up led by Mark which is quite relaxed but already leads you into the direction you will be going in during the workout: knee lifts, half jacks,...Then the workout begins which is generally Super Sculpt to start with.SUPER SCULPT (Mark's segment): you will need dumbbells for this, I use 5lbs ones and I am glad I am not using heavier ones for now because all the sets will really tire your arms at the beginning(!).Expect to be doing the following e.g.: shoulder press with a squat i.e. you squat down get up and press, bicep curls with a squat and a shoulder press, "the Cuban" which is basically a bit of a weight lifter move and burns like hell, but you will be so proud if you get the whole set completed :)Lunges with tricep kick-backs; rowing with a wide-legged squat and so on.In between you will do intervals to get your heart rate up and make sure you burn some fat e.g.: star jumps, skipping, ...WITH SUPER LEGS: This is an added 10 minutes after super sculpt and before the cool down.it starts off with squats and it does not stop :) as I said above you will really feel this one the day after you have done it.There are lunge-jumps, squats, squats, squats, it is brilliant!WITH SUPER PUMP: This is a 10 minute upper body workout which is added straight after the warm up, again with weights of course. So you do things like lateral raises, shoulder press, tricep kick-backs, bicep burls,... - it is quite relaxed.SUPER FIT (Jackie's segment): Not my favourite. This one is all about kicking, jumping and boxing. Don't get me wrong it will definitely work up a sweat but it does not feel like it is working anything properly... of course it does really but I prefer to feel it working straight away i.e. Mark's workouts.Star jumps are used as intervals, as are side lunges with a jump in the middle, etcWhat is killer though, or can be is the forward lunges with two kicks with your front leg (try this without putting your leg down in between for extra "fun", great for your core and balance though!), a bit easier are the regular lunges with 3 kicks from the back leg.Super abs: Is a 10 minute segment you can add to the end of super fit. I find this very effective, although before the cool down of Super Pump segments you also always do a few stomach exercises, but these ones are obviously more intense.Half sit-ups in 2 stages, reverse crunches easy version (basically you have your legs up straight pointing to the ceiling and then you push your bum off the floor and push your legs aiming behind your head), reverse crunches harder version (same thing but you aim to push your legs further to the ceiling, works your lower abs), full crunch (aaaah!!) - so a normal crunch and a reverse crunch in one go and a few more to get your abs engaged.Highly recommend Super Body Workout!!

Super Body - SUPERB fitness DVD!
I have to be honest, I'd never heard of Davina. I stumbled upon this DVD somewhat by accident by following the reviews from others and I took a chance not having any idea what to expect. This DVD is, in a word, brilliant.First off - value for money is outstanding - there's absolutely stacks of quality workout material on this - and more than I've seen on any other workout DVD (and I have quite a few now).Secondly and very importantly, instruction and advice given by the crew is great and if heeded the chances for injury are minimal.Level wise, Davin's Super Body has fast become my staple over the last few months. I started out with the 10 Minute Solution: Target Tone for Beginners, which got me ready nicely for more advanced work. I then got stuck into Davina's DVD with a set of 2kg weights and doing the Sculpt routine every other day, I noticed a significant difference over a period of a few weeks. I then upped the weights to 3kg and am now, seven months later, up to 4kg, which seems about right for my height and size (5'4", 53kg, small frame).I've 'graduated' up to Nell McAndrew's Ultimate Challenge - Ultimate Results [DVD] [2004 ] but still come back to what I've come to call 'Davina Gold' at least three times a week because the Sculpting section is simply so good. I tend to go for the Super Legs (Sculpt plus an extra legs section) and then add on the Super Six Pack at the end before cooling down.Love Davina's bubbly personality - love the energy she exudes, her great sense of humour and simply how down to earth she, Mark and Jackie are. The team gels superbly and this together with Davina's other DVDs makes them all seem like great family friends! I was wary of some of the reviews saying that the commentary can get a bit annoying but I actually rather like it - I know every word, sigh and movement now but that's fine. I bought this DVD to get results and that's exactly what I got.Things that could have been better really are few and far between - I'd liked to have seen a select and mix ability as it would be great to be able to pick whatever sections we want and in whatever order we want. This function would extend the life of this DVD further still. Also, as some have said, this DVD is heavy on the knees during the Super Sculpt if you don't execute the squats correctly. It really is important to not put your knees over your toes. I found myself suffering after a few weeks but was determined to keep going and once I corrected my technique I didn't have any further problems. In terms of body shape, this DVD has made me look how I am today - slim, very toned and with great abs - and abs that I never thought I'd have after two children. I also had a back injury from having my second child and suffered with back pain for years after. Since doing this DVD and getting my core area so much stronger, I haven't had so much as a twinge since. With the help of this DVD I'm comfortably maintaining a size 8 and feel absolutely fantastic.Would love to see an even more advanced Davina DVD - I'm quite sure there's a stack of fellow hard core Davina fans out there who have done this Super Body workout extensively and are itching for something even more challenging - but yet still Davina! The bottom line is that no DVD is ever going to please all the people all the time but this DVD is pretty close to perfect - Davina, Mark and Jackie absolutely nailed it with the Super Body workout - a *massive* thank you to the team who have put together a very well thought out and well put together set of routines that can be done by anyone from beginner level right up to advanced - and this DVD will take you on that journey if you're reading this as a beginner. For those of you who are already more advanced, add a few extra kilos on the arms if you're finding the Sculpting section too easy! This DVD *WILL* give you results - no question about it.
