excellent and thoughtful text
The new 11th Edition of this text is excellent. It explains new insights into causation of disease from cell biology advances in the last several years. There is extensive clinical pathological correlation to explain new developments in causation of commonly treated disease, such as advances in causes of neoplasia, cellular mechanisms of immune disease, and infectious disease. One requirement to appreciate this work is an interest in cell biology. If you want to learn enough pathology for use in dx and treatment, a book like Muir's Pathology would suffice, but if you are fascinated by the progress of research in medical investigation as well, this is your book.New to this edition are summaries of vital points in each chapter, how to interpret and understand the results of lab results----and how to use them for dx, and less emphasis of rare disease and more on the causes, dx, and treatment of the common afflictions. For those of you with a passion for understanding medicine, this is a great companion for study along withclinical textbooks.Thomas Weisman MDTucson, Arizona

Thinner but smarter
I liked the tables at the end ob chapters that provide pathophysiological aspects of measured lab data. Disliked that they removed the annotated bibliography
