Good Book - Just not what was Needed for Us at the Time
Way too detailed and over my son's head. So, unless your child is a great test taker then, this book might be too advanced for them just yet. I wished I'd gotten something a level lower then, moved to this one.

Catholic high school entrance exam preparation
The amazon reviews of this volume are what made me purchase it in addition for the For Dummies volume and the kaplin Catholic High School Entrance Exam prep volume. Our daughter commented that had she not completed the math problems in this volume she never could have finished as much of the math section of the exam as she did. She commented that she knew how to do the problems, but because she had practiced problems so similar to what were on the test she knew exactly what to do. Our daughter is interested in engineering programs that require additional testing as a part of her placement if she is excepted. She will be putting these materials to good use again for more tests come January and May.

cant get better!
One of the books that I've been using for SSAT math is the older version of Barrons SSAT with plenty of word problems! This book is perfect-filled with plenty of practice questions! Some reviewer mentioned how this book does not have the explanation like the Kaplan. I think they have different purposes. Kaplan/Princeton/Peterson is great for students who are beginning to study on SSAT/ISEE. For students who solved all the books out in the market, and who wants more practice in solving math word problems, this book is just perfect!

Not a Good Resource for VSL (Visual Spatial Learners)
I bought this for my son who is studying for the HSPT. While the book is comprehensive and reasonably well organized it fails to include any graphic representations of the math concepts presented. For a child who is a strong or gifted VSL this book will be useless. I wish someone would write a book with at least one clearly presented graphic formula in addition to the traditional long form version of problems. It would be revolutionary for kids like mine.If your child is good at rote memorization and practice drills this will be useful. If your child is visual and needs manipulatives or graphics and often solves problems correctly without being able to show his steps or explain why, this book is not for you.As per the comment from Cardinal Education, I have adjusted my review to three stars in consideration. Nevertheless, since Cardinal is located in the Silicon Valley, and is, therefore, inaccessible to probably 99% of all Amazon customers who live elsewhere in the country who may be considering this book, I feel that my review will be helpful to parents who will be unable to access the companion services that Cardinal Education offers. This book is suitable for highly motivated independent students who wish to drill and practice. If your child needs additional explanation or needs graphic representations, prepare to supplement this guide with personal instruction, lots of it. In addition, some reviews are not Amazon Verified Purchases - given that most of them are from reviewers in the S.F. Bay Area, one can assume they were in person customers of Cardinal's various education services, which is fine - but my review is based on an online purchase and in comparison to other study guides we have purchased to prepare for these tests.

Excellent math test prep book
A great assortment of math equations. Son used to prepare for ISEE and worked very well. It is great that it can be used to study from for high school exams too.

Everything you need to prepare for the math sections.
Sometimes the best way to prepare for a test is simply repetition. This large book does that well. Our child could not have done better on the actual test.

Great resource!
Very helpful for preparing students for the ISEE, or for general review. Multiple worksheets for each topic, addressing a range of ability levels. Love the section on quantitative comparisons!

Math Workbook for ISEE, SSAT, HSPT
Great! So nice to have tons of problems so that my students can get lots of practice. They need lots of repetition in order to remember how to do these problems on the test. And there are so many different kinds of problems that are just like the ones on the real ISEE.There are, however, some problems. Some of the answers are wrong, and problems aren't put in order from easy to hard. After mastering easier problems, students end up having to do them again, along w/ the harder problems. Wastes time. But this book is so much better than other books out there I would still recommend it over others.
