Brilliant!
This product was in perfect condition upon arrival, it was packaged securely and arrived on-time, no damage whatsoever. First-class delivery.I grew up watching Sailor Moon on TV as a child, I actually first started reading the manga online, then when they started releasing it in the shops, I bought them like a flash! I'd actually been waiting for over 3 months for this volume to come out in the shops, but eventually grew impatient and found that it'd already been released on here and did not hesitate to order it right away! The only MINOR negative is (not just with this volume, but all the other's as well) that sometimes the translations can be a little different or 'off' at times, Usagi is sometimes called by that, or Bunny or even Serena, luckily I know who is who, but for first-time readers it can be a tiny bit off-putting.I would suggest this to all the graphic novel/manga enthusiasts, Sailor Moon is a classic must-have, it definitely is one of the first few iconic manga to inspire the magical-girl genre and in my opinion is a lot better than the anime.Bearing in mind that in some scenes you need to have a little patience with the flow of the story and characters, towards the 9th volume I start to feel the storyline is rather rushed and focused a bit too heavily upon Chibi-Usa, which I've never been fond of as a character-in fact, she's probably my least favourite character.Up until volume 8 or 9, the romance between Usagi and Mamoru is at times very sweet, only that fizzles out a little after the 9th or 10th volume, focusing more on the drama and fantasy. The one thing I DO love in the manga-in specific-is that Queen Serenity/Goddess Selene is mentioned on and off throughout the story-something which they did NOT do in the anime and was disappointed with (a definite waste of a solid background character), but just when you're going to forget about her, she pops up in a flashback or is mentioned once more, it is a glimpse into her and Princess Serenity's past lives. In volume 7 or 8 the lives/wishes/dreams of the inner-senshi is really looked into, which I think is a nice touch, it was finally great to read and get to know more about the supporting characters, it was a nice dynamic in comparison to seeing Usagi's POV.Something that does irritate me however is that Chibi-Usa is in love with her dad in the past and has been throughout most of the manga...I just...no, I'm sorry, but it really bothers me, simply because he's already taken with Usagi and incest? Really Japan? Didn't know your standards of morality had dropped that far! It just...I dunno, I can see why Usagi gets jealous, the manga after a while does focus a lot more on Chibi-Usa and her relationship with her parents in the past as opposed to focusing more on Usagi and her love with Mamoru. I don't recall seeing him and Usagi going on a date alone...ever!Another thing that bothers me is that Mamoru is pretty much the only guy that is consistent with the storyline and has any 'power', there are other guys that pop up in the manga on and off, but Mamoru is the one you'll see the most of.Finally, be prepared to be bombarded with information, because there's a lot of it, there are SO many evil characters/background characters/supporting characters, most of which are forgotten about once they're no longer of any 'use'.Don't misunderstand, Sailor Moon is a wonderful manga-especially the first season! Up until the 3rd volume it is-in my opinion-an epic tale of drama, romance, fantasy and action-a true fairytale/magical girl story.I definitely recommend buying into the series if you haven't done so already, this being the second-to-last volume of the entire series is along with the last volume a pretty good ending to a very decent series. Not everyone will agree and it certainly has it's flaws, but I believe that if the relaunch of the new Sailor Moon anime (in 2014 I believe) sticks as close to the manga as they say they are then I believe it'll be a re-awakening for the older generation like myself that grew up watching this on TV in the mornings, with any luck, it'll inspire a new generation into this manga and to just give it a chance.Definitely grab this volume while you can! :)
