What it means to be timeless and how to become a classic.
One of the best feel good films of the 2000s perhaps this whole century.Jack Black has done some poor acting before and after this film, just look at kingkong for reference. But this. This is definitely one of his best. The story is so sweet. The punch lines and gags are hilarious. And if it wasn't Jack Black playing this role, I doubt it would be anywhere near as good as it is.He just really brought this fantastic silly goofy persona into his character with his own special touch and owned every single second of camera time. From his hilarious fake mexican accent to every physical stance and facial expressions, he just outdoes everybody. When I have kids, I will definitely share this film with them, it has heart, good vibes and much much more.100 out of 5 star without a doubt.Shout-out to the director and story board writers. Great film, just like Napoleon Dynamite.

Not everyone's taste, but an endearing comedy classic.
Who doesn't like Mexican Wrestlers?!!O.K., latent homo-erotic fantasies aside, this is a very sweet comedy and Jack Black excels in this stand-alone, and increasingly cult comedy classic. Sure, there are some parts that aren't as funny as they could be or that appeal to a certain kind of taste, but I think it's overall storyline is an endearing one and it's motto is plain - "You can come from humble beginnings and even be not the fittest person on the planet, but inside everyone of us is a hero waiting to come out"!Some people may prefer other Jack Black films ("Kung-fu Panda" springs to mind), but I still think this should be among your collection if you like him.

Poor
I tried watching this on the recommendation of a friend who knew that I have already enjoyed a few Jack Black films. I was told this was one of his best. Well, I can't speak for the whole film - I gave up after about 15-20 minutes. I found it vaccuous and his acting stiff and wooden (save that is for his facial expressions, which are always dynamic). Truly not worth the price of a coffee.

El gordo es gracioso
Another quasi-indie hit that was really always set for success due to the inclusion of the comedy antics of Jack Black. This is closer in tone to Be Kind Rewind and it is a testament to Mr Black that these otherwise under-the-radar gems would go unnoticed if not for his involvement. But these kinds of films were always where he cut his teeth as an actor and he should be duty-bound to champion their obvious worth. That said, the film itself is no classic but it does exactly what it should: it's very funny and it's very quirky.Wonderfully shot and acted it feels like a conventional heartwarmer, which it is in some ways. But it's the oddness that offsets this and makes it funny. It is the classic deadpan style that Black has adopted for this and it works as most of the laughs are at him trying to be serious. The triumph of the film is the charcter's stalwart adherence to his goal and his simple kindness that ultimately overcomes all obstacles. So we may laugh but he wins in the end.But even on a truly base level, it's just a really funny film.

Great to watch (and rewatch and quote) with kids
This gets better with every viewing. Enjoyed it much more with the kids than my first viewing. Worth the watch (and rewatch) just for Jack Black’s comic intensity alone. Will give you and your family plenty of funny lines and lunge-poses to re-enact

Christmas gift
I love this film and it’s a Christmas gift for a friend who didn’t know why wolves fans have wrestling masks for Jimenez when he scores so now they will know about Mexican wrestling and have a laugh as well.

The funniest, yet most inspirational, comedy ever made.
A sweet, charming and weirdly inspirational storyline, with just a continuous stream of hilarious scenes and lines. One of the best comedies ever made. Extremely underrated - defo my favourite comedy. The story is also so charming, the whole concept of fighting for the poor really speaks to my soul. Strange to see such a funny comedy also inspire you, but this one manages to do just that! 10/10!!!!
