I really like this. I've grown everything from seed this year, and it all started in this tray. The timer is great. The quality is just good enough. Nothing fancy. They stack, so they don't take up a lot of room. And the humidity can be controlled just fine with the vent.

This unit is great for the price and comes with almost everything you need. The only thing missing is starting mix, and I prefer coco coir to the usual peat so I'm actually glad they don't include mix. The plastics is very sturdy unlike some other cheap starter trays I've used, so no worry about leaking or breaking. Was easy to set up and easy to tuck out of the way on a shelf. The timer is convenient so I don't have to remember to turn on/off every day. Used this to successfully start okra, leeks, cilantro for the current season. Even threw a papaya seed in there for fun and it sprouted fine.There are two caveats:1) Your seedlings will be a bit leggy because there is no fan in the unit and the lights are not industrial grow light strength (the unit would have to cost way more I assume), so you need to take that into account. Gently tousle the seedlings a few times a day to make up for lack of wind and transplant them as soon as they are showing the first true leaves (non cotyledon leaves) so they have less time to get leggy.2) This thing holds moisture really well, which is great, but don't overwater or else you will quickly get mold and the seedlings will dampen off.

I bought this in February, started seeds in March. Lights didn't fit so I had to cut one end so they would fit. Lights worked fine in the beginning, now they will only stay on for maybe a minute. I've looked for a way to contact the seller but I can't find it. Too late to return this item and wouldn't anyway because they are full of dirt and some sprouts. I should have known not to but something from China

This is great for starting seeds - once I figured out how to best use it, I've gotten 100% seed germination across a wide range of vegetables and flowers (cucumber, melon, tomato, sunflower, basil, and more).A word of advice: don't keep the tray fully closed for more than 1-2 days at a time. It is very effective at trapping warmth and moisture even with the air holes open, and if you don't open it for air flow you will be growing more mold/fungus than plants in no time.What I have found to be a perfect setup:- a small USB fan that keeps air circulating through the moisture holes on top. Don't keep this on all the time but do run a couple of hours a day, especially right after watering.- little cardboard inserts to prop open the tray to allow some moisture to escape- heating mat under the seed tray (don't set it too high as the tray is very effective at trapping warmth even partially open)- (optional) a soil-blocking kit to make soil blocks rather than using the included seed trays. I rest them on top of a sheet of tin foil, as cardboard and wax paper both got moldy quickly.Happy germinating!

I purchased this unit and it was defective. I put in for an exchange and they got it to me overnight. So impressed. The replacement works perfect and I have planted my first seeds. I was so shocked to see that some of the seeds had already started to germinate. This product is superior as far as I am concerned, and the seller obviously cares about the customer.

This seed starter tray kit was almost too easy to set up and use. I ended up with too many vegetable and herb seedlings that I had to give some of them to neighbors and friends. It arrived sooner than advertised, I set it up the same day and within 10 days I had 2 full trays of seedlings. Highly recommend. It's small and compact and fits on top of our small mini-fridge, but the yield is anything but small.

One of the lights didn't work, but my husband already had planted his seeds so... But otherwise arrived early, just as described. Too bad on the light,but that's why only have 3 stars
