Marantz Cinema 70s
I bought this when my Yamaha RX-V6A developed a fault and I needed a stand-in whilst it was away being repaired. The Marantz is a great AV amp with just about everything you need to get started in both stereo and multi channel home cinema. It's musical enough to be used for music and has enough power for most home cinema uses, plus it has a full set of pre-outs for all 7 channels so you can add amplification later if you want / need to. It has Bluetooth and WiFi connections to allow you to play music from your phone or local storage device and has enough hdmi connections for most systems. I have a personal preference for the sound of the Yamaha, which is slightly more insightful and a little less warm than the marantz. Having said that the Marantz looks and feels like a quality product where the Yamaha is a little more basic, especially in the UI. Little touches like the back lit buttons on the remote control just set the Marantz apart from the Yamaha. So overall I love this amp and it will be a tough decision which one to part with when the Yamaha comes back!

Full Featured Slimline AV Receiver
The Cinema 70s was purchased as a replacement for our Marantz 1506 AV amp. It arrived well boxed and included everything you might need. This is our fourth Marantz slimline AV amp and each one has represented a significant upgrade. The onscreen graphics are much improved on our previous model and are very comprehensive. They guide you through using the provided calibration microphone to complete the Audyssey speaker set up in a very clear and concise manner. The resulting audio quality was excellent across our 5.1 speaker system, with a quite dramatic improvement in the centre channel decoding and audibility. This was particularly pleasing as we always regarded this as the weak link in our 1506. Our lounge is roughly 6M x 4M and the amp was easily capable of generating sufficient volume. We are delighted with our purchase and would highly recommend it.

No Video Upscale To 4K - 8K Only
I got this to replace my Sony amp which has been playing up and with no dates for a UK release of a new model this one looked interesting. It may not be as tall as a classic amp but it is deeper and a little wider.Anyway, after the fun task of swapping over all the speaker cables initial setup went fine with it happy with my speakers and room calibration. It does it for various seating positions for 3 or 6 people but you can complete after 3 seating spots. It all works and sounds fine in "Auto" sound decode mode except for "Dolby Surround" which you have to select manually (bug or poor design), all you get by default is stereo and I have a lot of media with "Dolby Surround" sound. Other sound modes e.g. 5.1 are selected okay in "Auto".ATMOS of course is selected automatically. The remote is okay and has a backlight (button on the right side) and the front display is small and pretty useless. The onscreen displays are great giving both detailed sound and video format information. My only other surprise was the inbuilt video upscaling only works with an 8K TV and I would have expected it also to also support a 4K TV (If a chip can handle 8K upscale 4K upscale I would have thought would be easy).Granted, your video devices may have their own upscale technology so it may not be an issue for you.The output power seems adequate for my needs and I have had it playing as loud as my Sony.I just hope it fits on the shelf - It did but more of a struggle.

Compact and great looking.
Looks amazing. Sounds great, even before calibration. Menus on TV are visually appealing. No one mentions it but the remote has backlighting included. This should be advertised as it is great buying incentive for many.

Brilliant and not lacking power
My room is a reasonable size (3m x 6m) and after reading reviews I was concerned whether it was powerful enough for my 5.1 setup.I wasn't concerned as I knew could always and probably will add a power amp or two but doesn't need it. First watch of LOTR 4K version and it's incredible. The main reason for my upgrade is due to wanting a more "musical" amp as my use is 50/50 music and films, obviously the ability to add a power amp will improve this. The streaming ability of the amp is great, no issues connecting to Tidal, Spotify or stream off my local home server. Also, very nice to look at as Amps go. Only issue is it's quite deep, but it's not very high so it's horses for courses.Very impressed is my final conclusion.

I use this as a centre piece as well as an Emotiva BASX4 and an Eversolo DMP-A6. The sound is great !
