Want more!!
I started this book and then hit a wall as I had been reading alot. But picked it back up a day ago and finished it. Daniel Hurst has never disappointed with any books I have read. This one has a twist coming I didn't expect and then another 🤯 but the ending........ I want to know more.

Absolutely brilliant
I don’t often make time to write book reviews because when I finish one, I can’t wait to get stuck into the next. However I was so delighted with “The Doctor’s Wife” from start to finish, I had to leave a review – the author says he appreciates reviews and I felt he deserved one!I devoured this in about 24 hours and it’s hard to write a summary that’s more detailed than the blurb on the back cover without any spoilers but what I will say is, it was unputdownable and I was not disappointed with the ending – in fact I would love it if there was a sequel…Fern and her husband “Dishy Doctor Drew Devlin” move to a dream home in the remote village of Aberness, ostensibly to enjoy a quieter pace of life than their previous home town of Manchester, and for Drew to achieve a better work/life balance taking up the position of GP at the local village surgery. However, from the get-go it is clear that Drew has another agenda… The way the story unfolds and ultimately concludes is very cleverly done indeed. Well thought out, not too farfetched, and there were no loose ends to leave the reader wondering where a particular thread was supposed to have been going (Reading a decent story is a journey but details and the destination matters!)I liked the main character Fern – I empathised with her main issue which the story was built around, and admired her guts (there is nothing worse than reading a good story where you actually do not like any of the characters) and the hooks in the plot keep the reader wondering who knows what, not to mention what will be the next twist (there were a few twists throughout, which worked really well!)What I also loved about reading “The Doctor’s Wife” was that it was a meaty story but not too complicated, each chapter is fairly short (this is convenient for someone like me who often has to reluctantly break off reading when some pesky domestic task needs my attention) and the chapters alternate between two main characters, Fern and Drew – and occasionally take us back to something which happened 6 months ago – without it being confusing. Being able to read parts of the story from the points of view of both Fern and Drew was a nice touch. This book would make a brilliant film, and I was delighted to realise that Daniel Hurst has written a lot of other titles so they are all in my wish-list now; in fact I plan to binge-buy them asap and read them all in the garden this spring/summer.

What a book!
My daughter recommended this book as she had read it and said how good it was. I was not disappointed. It was the first book for quite awhile that I didn’t want to put down. I thought I had the plot and then there was another twist which I didn’t see coming. Highly recommend.

real turn around
great story and then when the plot turned to be something completely different was amazing. Could not wait to read the next page was so exiting and I am not usually a lover of crime mystery but would reccomend this to all.

An enjoyable but somewhat unrealistic read
Daniel Hurst excels at writing domestic psychological thrillers with characters leading everyday lifes that readers can relate to. This one is no exception. Drew is an obnoxious GP who is cheating on his wife, Fern, and will go to literally any lengths to continue his illicit relationship, totally oblivious that his wife knows exactly what is going on. I loved how Fern put her husband and his mistress in excruciatingly difficult situations and watched how they wriggled and squirmed their way out of them.So why only four stars? Well, the book seemed very rushed, with continuity errors and implausible plot lines on numerous occasions. At one point Fern grimaces as the icy January wind whips around her and the next minute Drew is going for a jog along the beach in shorts and T-shirt, and then there is a trip a couple of days later to the village fete, a traditional summer event in rural villages. The latter part of the book in particular was rather less believable and the plot wasn't sufficiently thought out. You certainly have to suspend disbelief and not think too much about just how justifiable some scenarios are. In particular, the local police force seemed rather overzealous in arresting someone who would surely instead have been taken in for questioning on the very flimsy evidence they had.Overall, though, it was a quick, easy read and I enjoyed it.

Fuyez!
Quelle deception!

This is a really good one...it kept me on my toes right from the start. And I really think there needs to be a second book. Let me know if you think so to....
