Note: this item was selected and delivered to me free of charge from Amazon for an honest and detailed review.It's generally recommended to replace the dip stick on R50/53 Minis at some unknown regular interval because the dip stick is notorious for breaking in the dip stick tube requiring the car to be in front end service mode to properly repair/remove (I replaced mine as preventative maintenance). This item was a direct replacement of my old dip stick, same size and materials (see photos for comparison). It's only missing the official "BMW" embossment on the handle. If see no deficiencies; a direct replacement for the original part.

I have been through a couple dipsticks on my 2005 Mini Cooper S Convertible, as the shafts seem to bend and break due to the circuitous tube in which they are mounted. This dipstick is an exact match for the OEM dipstick, in fact, I cannot even tell them apart. I set the new and old dipsticks side by side and they are the exact same length and have identical handles and plastic fittings on the lower end. These dipsticks represent an easy and immediate solution for when the original shaft breaks, and these are very cost-effective. At this price point, you cannot touch these dipsticks or go wrong.
