Great
It took my 13 year old daughter two days to make this and she loved every minute of it. She was a bit frustrated when one bit went wrong and we had to go back a few steps but that was relatively easy to do without any damage. The final box is lovely.

Gorgeous and useful and also fun to build
First of all a small caveat - in one of the very early stages, attaching two identical small gears to part 5, it was such a tight fit to get the two gears on that spindle, it broke. So make sure you lightly sand down part 5 especially, on all four sides. I did apply for replacement parts 5 and the two gears, however as Ukraine is now in an awful position I just bought a second box. After very lightly sanding part 5, the gears fitted perfectly, lined up centrally on the axel (part 5).It is a good idea to lightly sand most gear pieces at least. The rest of the pieces fitted perfectly, with a satisfying squeak as pushed together. It is actually quite an easy build compared to some of the other laser cut kits. Don't use a hammer to fit the pieces together like another unsatisfied reviewer! Use a hard surface to very carefully and squarely pushes pieces together if required. Also, use wax on the gears and moving parts as suggested. The only awkward part is dropping the doubly holed, figure 8 pieces onto a fixed spur as you push the top layer boxes (the ones which swivel out as the lid is raised).Once completed be gentle with box. Also, it does take a while for all the gears to loosen and work together smoothly. So spend a short while opening and closing the box until it all loosens. Finally, yes, it is a delicate box. Be careful not to force it, so as you lift the lid, at least when you've just finished it, help ease out the lower trays and the top swivel boxes as you raise the lid. Don't force the lid right up to vertical - it's about 50 - 60 degrees when fully open and the trays are out. Also, when closing the box, be just as gentle, helping push the tray and swiveled boxes back in as you lower the lid again. The catch works perfectly. With that care, the box should last years just like any other box. The only things which will perish are the rubber bands, but they shouldn't actually be too difficult to replace when necessary. The only thing then is to find a use for it! I may use it to put all my spare ship modelling parts in it, deadeyes, rigging blocks, rigging thread etc.I can highly recommend it. It's not the hardest build of laser cut kits and it's also very useful - for whatever you decided to use it for.

It’s a lovely present but this one needed a lot sanding
This antique box is the hardest one due to parts not fitting properly. Tried to contact ugear and still waiting

Beautiful mechanical model kit
This is definitely not a kit for beginners or people who get frustrated easily, but I found it really enjoyable to make. It came well packaged in a nice box. The instructions were very clear, I particularly liked highlighting where each part is in the pop-out boards which made it easy to find the parts. The parts went together well for me. A lot of the bits require a bit of force to go in properly, even with the wax, but it was very sturdy and didn't have any issues with any pieces breaking. The completed box looks really pretty and very sturdy. I'll definitely look for more UGears products in the future.

Tough and still
Bought this as a gift for my friend. It’s very stiff to move any parts and seems it may break if forced. Very fragile

Great if you like Assembling things
It was fun to build kept me going most of the afternoon and clear instructions and some bits can be a stubborn to get on.

Nice project to complete
Looks good and fascinating when finished. Ideally use two hands when opening or closing the box to avoid stress or damage to the gears. Instructions are good, but two or three tricky bits where you have concentrate more on the illustration to get it right

Great Wood Puzzle to build
This is an excellent puzzle box. It takes concentration to ensure that you fit the parts correctly and it will work as long as you follow the instructions correctly. The instructions are numbered pictures and on occasions takes a bit of thought to see have it fits together. This is the 3rd UGears model that I have built and is the most satisfying.I have stained my box with a wood stain and it looks great. Is a good small storage box.A very satisfactory model to build and very well made.
