Worthwhile
Interesting premise. Good autumnal/winter read. Good character description and development. It was very easy to visualise them.

Creepy and claustrophobic read...
Fantastic book that I will read again - even though I know what happens!First book of Shine's I have read, and I will definitely be buying more. The tale is unusual, about a young woman asked to delivery a parrot for a friend, whose car breaks down outside a mysterious forest. She sets out to find help and goes through the wood on her journey. She then gets trapped and the story starts in earnest... together with her fellow captives. We're not given too much detail about the so-called titular Watchers but what we are told makes a shiver run down your spine... Nasty things. As the tale progresses there are a couple of twists and shocks that Shine throws in the reader's direction, especially closer to the end of the book. Some of these you don't see coming. Some, well you may suspect if you pay close attention. If you love a chilling read, I can recommend this book. Only one thing, don't forget to keep the light on...

Needs more suspense
It’s not a bad read but just wasn’t as suspenseful as I expected. Has a nice twist but not as dramatic as it led up to be. Maybe the story line would have held up better a few decades ago when basic scares had a stronger impact.

The Watchers
To me, this Book is not an edge-of-your-seat read. It is a good book but The Creeper had more suspense

Very enjoyable read
I like Shine's writing style. There are a lot of wonderful phrases in the book. The story keeps readers searching for answers. Provocative, suspenseful and gripping without gore.
