Superb catch
I've bought this, and a couple more in the series, mainly for one of my grandsons who at seven was much keener on cricket than reading. It's provided excellent family reading under the duvet and in the best possible way shown why being able to read for yourself is worth the effort. Meanwhile my daughter, their mother, has got quite good at improvising calypso. And for everyone else, with even the gentlest enthusiasm for cricket, this is simply a very enjoyable read.

The Best Yet
This book so far exceeds anything that can be expected from a cricket book that it is bound to be a favourite of people who would never dream of buying a book about sport as well as cricket enthusiasts young and old. I really enjoyed the first two Butterfinger books. They caught the essence and excitement of young cricketers facing up to success and failures on and off the pitch. Bob Cattell's story and John Agard's verses take this to a new level. I read it at a single sitting and even in January expect it to be my book of the year.
