Apple HomeKit “super” SmartPlug marvel.
Read about SmartPlugs and wanted to use some with the New Apple HomeKit I was setting up!These are literally marvellous. Easy to use, set up, integrate into my Apple HomeKit app and use. You can set these up, I’ve now got 8, to come on at different times, manually turn on with Hey Siri, or just with the App on your iPhone 📱 or iPad or better still the Apple Watch.Set mine up with using the camera on the iPhone to the Q code on each of the plugs. Just name it, plug it turn the power on, give some instructions in the HomeKit app and the job is done within 5 minutes.I’m currently using 2 in the main bedroom and 2 in the spare. 2 for outdoor Christmas lights and one for a standard light in the living room.2 come on in the morning when I have to get up for work, then go off after a time I’ve programmed into the app. It’s that simple.2 come on with the outdoor Christmas Lights at sunset and go off every night at 1am.It’s endless what you can use them for and how easy it is to set up each one.Love them.

One unit failed after one year
Unfortunately one of the two units failed after one year of usage.Amazon wants me to return both products and refund for the purchase of two replacement units.Amazon does not guarantee that the working product will get a second life. It might be dumped. I find this completely unsustainable. Amazon did not find a solution for refunding just enough for one replacement unit.

Brilliant product, once you've managed setup
Bought a couple of these to work with Apple Homekit and now they're connected they work faultlessly. However, trying to get them onto Homekit in the first place was a bit of a battle. One of them eventually joined the network after four or five attempts at adding it, then removing it, then trying all over again. It added in the Meross app fine, but getting into HomeKit was what cause the issues. The other one just refused to join I contacted Meross support and we eventually got there by adding it as a non-Homekit plug, then going to the HomeKit app and manually entering the code of for the plug which eventually got it on the system. So four out of five simply due to the slight pain of setup, but as I say, now they're connected they're brilliant.

One of the best smart plugs i have used!!
I was looking for a smart plug to use around my house, after some research I came across Meross smart plug. After receiving them i installed the Meross App and also open up the Apple Homekit app on my iPhone. Setup was an absolute breeze! after pluging one of them in, it took about a 1-2 min to get it connected on both the Apple Homekit and the Meross app. You can add them either on the Homekit app first or the Meross app, however i found adding it on Homekit first was easier. After you add it onto Homekit you can go into the Meross app, go to + and add it in there also. The range on these plugs was better than i expected. My router is on the upper floor and these plugs still have range downstairs at the far end of my kitchen! The great thing about these plugs is that they are the smallest ones on the market so are quite discrete and dont get in the way, They are also compatible with all the smart apps! .I originally bought 2 but then returned them and bought 4 !! Might need some more in the future.Great product and app, I can even turn on my kettle to boil whilst im still in bed!

Some Issues Connecting - But Now Seem Resolved
Updated February 2023:Since my original review, I can now say that with recent Meross firmware updates to the plugs and also iPhone IOS 16.3.1 and HomePod IOS 16.3.2 updates things have now settled down and I have had NO connection issues at all. They have been working fine even when re-pairing.So must have been a combination of IOS Homekit glitches and the firmware for the plugs, but I've raised my review up to 5 stars as a result, so very pleased.Original Review:Bought these to start cutting electricity used by all our devices on 'Standby' during the night. We have Smart TVs, Blu Ray, Home Theatre, Soundbars, Roku, electric toothbrush and razor chargers, etc., and other kit in various rooms around the home, so I think there are considerable savings to make over a year by having these switch off when we are asleep during the night. We have everything turn off at midnight and on again at 8 in the morning. I have a record of electricity units used each month over the last few years, so look forward seeing what difference this has made over the next few months as a comparison. We needed Homekit compatible devices, so these are one of the few choices available.Setting these up proved to be a nightmare, with constant failure to communicate with the smart plugs.Despite turning off all 5GHz WiFi, leaving just the 2.4 WiFi on, there were still connection issues and long delays. The plugs have the QR codes printed on the plug itself, so impossible to scan the code with a phone when plugged in!However, they do provide an 8 digit numerical code on the plug, so you must write this down beforehand to pair the plugs. Here lies another issue - the font is so small, that you need a magnifying glass to read the digits and the digits '8' and '0' (with the line through the zero) are indistinguishable, making the pairing process fail and requiring unplugging and checking the codes again. It took three people to check the codes!Even with the correct codes, the pairing often just looped endlessly, requiring reset after reset to get these damned things to pair.I finally have 3 working and one that does not. This is where the issues start again. Setting the plugs on a timer sometimes fail to work.Asking Siri to turn the plug off after anything from 60 minutes or over does not work! So if you are watching TV in bed and want everything switched off after 60 minutes it fails to work. You have to keep it under 60 minutes.Sometimes Siri has issues talking to the plugs and it takes several attempts before it will action the plug on or off when using manual activation..I have updated the firmware on all these - and you have to use the Meross App to do this. The rest of the App just seems for marketing and asking you to create an account and all the rest of it. So you have to have the App for firmware updates if nothing else.I am going to persevere with these as there seems to be no alternative Homekit plugs at present. I will see what sort of savings we are making and update this review in some months with the results, so you can see if it is worth the investment - especially with electricity prices shooting up as they are.Glad I don't have an electric vehicle either at the moment - am hanging onto the diesel before we are forced off the road!
