it's perfect for beginners and those experienced detectorists who just want o go out and have some fun without having to think about settings or anything. you can take it in a backpack and go hiking or just keep in the car for impromptu adventures. it good for adults who are probably no taller than 5'7" and have skinny arms. older folks should love it as it's lightweight and very accurate in the dirt or on the beach. i do wish the arm cuff was a bit bigger and higher. there is no way to connect headphones but i don't use them anyway. the pinpoint feature works great, but I always like to have a handheld pinpointer for quick target recovery. I have found as many rings and coins with this as i have found with other detectors. it's great on the beach, goes deep, and i dont worry about it getting wet.

At this price point I'm very impressed! It runs nice, and has alot of features that my 400 dollar detector has! I've tested it and it's a great unit for kids and adults alike. It's very simple to use and very compact. If your interested in getting into the hobby start with this!

I have purchased 3 nokta detectors and a pinpointer. I have been very happy with the operation of each machine and the quality of the material, all around great products.However, the Nokta 1st swing that I purchased arrived with the zip ties already cut off the coil and shafts, the small piece of foam sticker placed on the end of the shaft to protect the cord had been removed while a small piece appeared to be stuck back on at an odd angle, and the aluminum shaft had a small dent in it but it was only cosmetic.The machine works great and if not for the suspicious way it arrived (as if it had been taken out of the package and set up or used) then I would have rated 5 stars instead of 4 stars.

Scored this on Amazon Days for under $90 for my granddaughter. She loves it! Easy to use with 3 discrimination modes. Plenty of power for a beginner and comes with a decent plastic trowel shovel. If there is a negative it's the fact that it uses 2 AA batteries that seem to have a short life. Mine came with the box partially opened during shipping and was missing the shaft fastener. However 1 email to Nokta's customer service and a couple of days later I had a replacement part, awesome costumer service!In my opinion at around $100 for a beginner, a waterproof detector with a 2 yr warranty, you can't go wrong.

I like Nokta, they are good quality detectors. I purchased a First Swing for my son which was supposed to be new. When I received it had clearly been used and very poorly refurbished, box was heavily worn and damaged and the detector had light scuffing on the shaft. What made me send it back was the screw for the battery compartment was stripped.

The metal detector simple and lightweight in use so kids can handle it. Surprisingly it costs even less than Nokta Midi Hoard. The only drawback I found is the 1st swing can't fit big hands. Happy treasure hunting!

I purchased two of these one for me and one for a friend of mine. I have been detecting for twenty years or better. I own tesors, teknetics, Garrett's including the at pro, bounty hunters, the nokta simplex and some off brands and I have used all of the mentioned heavily. I wasn't going to give a review until I logged in alot of hours on this machine. First of all it is worth the $99. It probably is one that I have had the most fun with because I don't expect to much of a $99 detector. Yes it will find coins, jewelry, relics and as all machines do Trash. The depth is not to bad but if it were to go deeper no one would buy the others. But I have found some coins really deep but I had to pay attention to the indicator light that is own it because there was no audible sound. Also just a small click on the speaker let me know it was straining it's limit on dept. I have pushed it to the limit. So would I recommend this detector. Yes. If you're own a budget Yes. But I've always said the detector is only as good as the person swinging it. And one function you want get out of $99 detector's, can submerge the whole machine under water for Creek and stream detecting. Way to go NOKTA.

Small coil. Lite weight. Easy to use and easy functions. Straight to the point. Box came damaged, but i don't think it was used, because ort still had dinner of the zip ties on. Great for the price. And it is pretty accurate.
