It was easy to put in my cockatiel's cage. He can snuggle up to it and not get burned. It has a protective covering over the cord too. It is not for heating the whole cage but he seemed to like it and most of all he stayed warm.

UPDATE (26/6/23): 2nd purchase was a failure. Will be returning this purchase as well. It generates little heat and still makes a popping noise every 15 min or so. I personally do not recommend this product for purchase.This product did not work. I have returned the bird warmer as it made a popping sound when turned on and when in use. Now it does not work hence, returning the item. Was not happy on receiving the item to find out that it was not made for Australian powerpoints. Added expense to buy a converter. Will give this bird warmer another try as I did like the cord as my bird likes to nibble. When it did work I would like for it to throw out more warmth as a bird would have to be right up against it to get warmth and my bird is not a cuddler.

We are having cold snap in Arizona. I was worried about my birds getting chilly. I looked up cage heaters online, just to see what was the best. I found this one and thought I would give it a try. Since I'm the first to leave a review, I've added pics and a video. I have a lovebird and a pigeon. (YES, you read that right, a pigeon! I found an egg in my pool fountain. I incubated it and out came a pigeon!) Anyway's, I have a cage that I turned into bird apartments and needed 2 heaters. These were cost effective, simple and easy to install. They didn't scare the birds at all. They are nice and warm, my lovebird has been sitting and playing by it all evening. My pigeon was curious, had a few pecks and declared it to be of no fun to play with. He sat down in front of it and cooed quietly. So, right now it's a great buy although time will tell. I will update if anything changes. But so far I have happy, warm birds!
