I use this camera for indoors, so some designs such as the integrated power supply cable, illumination LED lights for color night vision will be the features I want to avoid. The installation was easy, the included metal bracket has a cable through notch for better power cable routing. The magnetic base is what I really like. I have used other brands outdoor battery powered cameras that came with magnetic base and it made the installation a breeze. However, magnetic base usually means the angle adjustment limited due to its nature - 1st priority is always to hold the body part. This one here I can put it to a weird angle to use its super wide angle, thanks to the attached power cable. It never dropped, but even it does, the cable would catch it. The picture of the cam is sharp like my other LaView cameras. I tested the night view color mode and the light is fairly bright, very useful during the night of used outdoors. I use this to watch my cat, so most the time I set it to “private mode” before I disconnect the cam. It enhanced the privacy because occasionally we use the bathroom. This is the first time I use a cam with “privacy mode” and I really like it. There are a couple things I noticed and if you don’t like them, this is not for you: 1. The white status indicator light is always on, unless you turn it off completely. So from that you cannot tell it’s on or off. It could be a good thing for outdoor users but not for indoor users like me. 2. Power cable is integrated, so the distance is fixed. It’s too long for me to use indoor, but it could be short for some people. 3. Metal base installation is a bit awkward for me, because I was doing this all by myself and tried to keep the cable under the notch. An extra hand will be helpful and make it a breeze to install. 4. If you already have a LaView indoor base that connects battery powered cameras, this will not connect to that. You will access it directly from the LaView app.

So this camera is great it's small compact has a super bright motion light and you can even set it to detect human movement rather than just any movement we have a older model of one of these camera and we have a bunch of trees in our backyard we had to turn of the motion sensing because it was constantly sending alerts whenever a gust of went went through and the trees moved. The new one the picture quality is great is you want to use the light or not. We have both of ours hardwired and new one has by far a way better connection the old one while hardwired still is inconsistent at best either no feed or send notifications for every bug that flies by, I can't say we have gotten one false notification for the new one yet. You do have to get kinda close for the light to turn on but that perfect for us because we have a small patio and a shared yard, the patio is about 5 feet from where the camera is mounted and you have to step into our patio for the light to come on. I included photos of old camera and new camera for comparison. We originally wanted to get a ring because we have the doorbell and indoor cameras but their outdoor camera was.199.99 this camera in my opinion has a clearer image than the ring cameras and far more free options for use + much simpler and easy to use in app dashboard as well.

I recently purchased the Laview B5 security camera and I have been extremely impressed with its performance. The setup process was straightforward and the accompanying app made it easy to monitor my property from my smartphone. The video quality is excellent, with clear and sharp images even at night thanks to the camera's night vision feature. The motion detection is also top-notch and I receive alerts on my phone whenever there is activity around my property. The camera's wide-angle lens provides a great view of my property. Overall, I am very satisfied with my purchase and highly recommend the Laview B5 security camera to anyone in need of a reliable and high-quality security camera.

The LaView 4MP Outdoor / Indoor Security Camera is a good product. In fact, I would give it 5 Stars. However, the only way the camera is usable is through the LaView App and it is not so good - I would give it 3 Stars - more on this later. I gave the whole package 4 Stars because their Customer Service was responsive and helpful. My contact, Hoshi, was very helpful and receptive to my concerns. He has reported them to their technical staff (hopefully they will be responsive to his inputs). The first thing I noticed was that the packaging was quite good and the vulnerable parts were well protected. Setup was simple, well described, and went smoothly. The camera has outstanding resolution and clarity. It’s after dark performance is also very good. The motion detection features all work well and it’s ability to differentiate humans from the noise of other motion is a particularly valuable tool and seems to work pretty good. The mounting system with the camera magnetically attached to the base is clever and worked fine for me. The only thing I might change is where the cable exists the camera. Right now it comes out directly opposite (behind) the lens which makes it impossible to aim the camera absolutely perpendicular to the surface that the camera cradle is attached to. I mounted the camera high enough such that it had to be aimed downward and I had no problem with this. The spot light is bright and allows the image to switch to full color in the darkness of the night. I have not had the camera long enough to report its’ durability against Mother Nature but have had no problems so far with mine being mounted outside. Now, getting back to the app, I could go on and on but will hit just a couple of the “low lights”. I view the camera image on 2 devices - an iPhone and an iPad. Maybe I'm different than the rest of the world but when I get a push notification of an “event” from the camera, I want to immediately play a clip of the video showing the event. There’s no way to do that. Tapping on the notification does not take me, either directly or even indirectly, to the video. It indirectly takes me to a thumbnail photo which usually shows the person and that screen leads me only to a “live” camera image. To view the video, you have to note the time-stamp of the event, find the “playback” button to tap, and then hunt for the time you want to start viewing. That isn’t too bad if you have setup the camera to only record events but if, like me, you want to have continuous recording to the memory card, the video of the event is buried in the timeline with no markers for “events”. It ain’t worth the effort! When viewing camera images on my iPad, it’s like the app developer forgot to even take a look. The app has a button that switches the view to full screen/landscape and, on my phone, presents you with an image at least twice as big, which is very useful. On my 11” iPad, that button leads to a weird landscape view in which the image is actually smaller than the one on my phone. They have completely missed the opportunity to present the user with a huge, spectacular, full screen, landscape view, really showing off the good resolution of this camera. This is 2 of the issues I had with the app - there are more. So, bottom line is, - good camera - app needs some work. I will enjoy and make good use the hardware and hope that the app software people listen to the inputs from their customer service people. If they do implement some changes that make the app more useful, I will gladly revise my rating to 5 stars. By the way, if I am not using the app properly or have completely missed something, some one please let me know.

This is my 9th LaView security camera. Of these cameras this one has the best picture quality both in daytime and evening low light. This camera also supports Human Detection which can be enabled/disabled. During the evening when this feature was enabled the camera only trigged when walking in my yard. When this feature was disabled insects flying at night triggered the camera multiple times. The camera displays great picture quality in low light. My back yard lights turn off at 2:00 am. While the lights (which are low wattage) are on, the camera displays and records good quality color images. Once the lights turn off the camera worked great using Infrared, Color Night Vision (Spotlight On) and Smart Mode (uses infrared mode until motion is detected and then uses color night vision with spotlight on until recording is completed). Unlike my other LaView cameras which are tightly fastened to their mount, this one uses a magnet and some sticky tape on the mount to secure the camera. This seems to adequately fasten the camera in position for normal situations like windy days, etc. but if you were to bump it with your body it would need to be adjusted. So far, this magnetic mount has not been an issue. Overall, I think this is an incredible camera for the price.
