Nice training tool
This product really helped me with the consistency of my hold and trigger actuation. It also was helpful in adjusting my sights. Both pistols I tried it in were off, and adjusting the sights to the laser dot got me tuned in pretty close. If there is any doubt about the alignment of the cartridge to your bore, just roll it 90 or 180 degrees and look for the same location. My cartridge was totally consistent no matter how I clocked it.Many of the negative reviews are probably due to the poor documentation that comes with the product. They pretty much say put the batteries in it and use it. Wake up Laserlyte! Say a few syllables. This may help:Laser stays on too long or won't work:Low batteries. Buy some, they are relatively inexpensive. The ones that ship with it may be ancient or new ones made in China.(I was happy to see that the product itself is Made in USA)Hard to take apart and put together:Not really. Get somebody to help you with better manual dexterity. It's small. It has fine threads.Batteries don't last: FalseOpen it up when you're not using it and pop the top battery out to save battery life.Laser stays on continuously:I have used this in my striker-fired Ruger SR9 and yes it stays on until you rack the slide. You need to do that anyway with that gun to get the trigger reset. Good practice for a FTF.The laser staying on is actually helpful because it teaches you to follow through with your grip or you'll see a streak instead of a dot. Also, holding your grip with consistent pressure while pulling the trigger (and after) yields consistent (non-streaky) hits.I have also used this with my Springfield EMP 1911 (hammer fired) and it blinks instead of staying on.Just the way the different firing pins act on the laser switch I guess. What I do is use it while I'm sitting aroud watching TV or whatever.Pick a small target somewhere in the room and hit it a few hundred times. It also works well on characters you don't like on TV, but being non-lethal, those darn characters just go on as if nobody shot them.So anyway I have fired this thing at least two thousand times and it still works fine and I am a better shot with better sighted in pistols.I have seen the results with live ammo. What's not to like?I'm going to buy another one for my .40 caliber Beretta now to work on my feel for that gun and its double action pulls.I would hope that if Laserlyte has had some real quality control issues that they would stand behind their fine product, but I haven't had any problems.Happy shooting everyone!

I was skeptical at first due to price, but I cannot argue with a very significant and obvious improvement in my shooting skills
Okay, I complained about the price. I STILL think this thing is over priced. It's priced as it is not because of what it costs them to make, but based upon the item's value. After having used it for a while, I will (reluctantly) agree that it's worth the money. As a new shooter I was looking for ways to improve my shooting. Then I learned about "dry fire" exercises. From there I found out about this laser device and after much deliberation and reading of reviews, I cashed in a few gift cards and decided to give it a try. I mean, it's Amazon...you can always return it if you don't like it or if it doesn't live up to its promotions. I purchased the 9mm version.Installation is easy. Lock open the slide and slide the cartridge into the barrel via the ejection port. Close the slide and you are set to go. Cycling the slide WILL NOT eject the cartridge. Some advise a touch of oil on the rubber rings, but I was too impatient and did not use any. I still have not.Every shot with a 9mm pistol produces a short (maybe half second) laser light that is fired down the barrel. I was skeptical as to how accurate of a representation the location of this dot would be to wear I truly was pointing, but it is definitely pretty accurate even across multiple guns. I've tried it in a Glock 19 Gen 4, a Glock 17 Gen 4, and a Sig Sauer P226. All work well.Be advised that if you plop this item into a striker fired pistol like a Glock, you have to pull back the slide to reset the trigger on every dry fire. Please note that you do NOT need to cycle the slide all the way back on the Glock...you only need to pull the slide back enough to cause the trigger to reset, which turns out to be somewhere around 1/2 inch to 1 inch of movement of the slide (or less). I did not find it annoying at all to have to "bump" the slide back after each shot.On the Sig Sauer, which has a hammer, you have to cock the hammer back after each shot. In some ways this is easier, but neither is a nuisance. The only thing this means is that you cannot practice rapid shooting. While there ARE devices out there to help with this (I've seen a special Glock magazine that will allow you to cycle the trigger repeatedly...but is costs around $100!), there is great value in using the laser cartridge solely for practicing a quick sight acquisition and alignent from your draw stroke, especially from concealment.I had this device for less than a month and I saw a HUGE increase in my shooting my next trip to the range. This device allowed me to practice my trigger control (one of my biggest shooting issues) on a daily basis at home without ear protection and without having to expend ammunition. A real money saver. I am now down to about a 2 inch spread for most of my shots and getting better all the time. Imagine what 15 minutes of dry fire practice a day at home will do for your shooting skills?I highly recommend this device to anyone who is dedicated to becoming a better shooter. I am a relatively new shooter and I continue to see significant improvement in my shooting through the daily use of this product...even just a couple of minutes a day.

Works as expected and as advertised
The Laserlyte works as expected and advertised. It comes with two sets of batteries so you don't have to worry about running out anytime soon.I use the laser trainer in conjunction with "ShootOff" to be able to practice at home when I can't make it to the range. This works well, and I would recommend this setup to others.Sometimes the battery cap unscrews a little bit, causing no laser to be shot, or a dimmed down laser that is not easily seen. While a nucissance, this is easily fixed by removing the device, and tightening the battery/snap cap.

Excellent product. Hoping to buy a 9mm one now
The laser trainer works very well and has helped me to reduce my score in three gun competition by allowing me to train more often with my handgun. Excellent product. Hoping to buy a 9mm one now.
