Juvenile Osteology: A Laboratory and Field Manual

Best book so far
This book has useful pictures for identification of juvenile bones. In case only a single bone is found, metric age estimation methods are easily understood from pictures. This is a good book for the beginners in juvenile anatomy as well as a good reference book for all researchers in the field. Also skeletal recording forms look useful, as they present three subadult age categories compared to usual two. Two are not always enough, hopefully three will be. Summaries of epiphyseal closure times in the end of the book will make it easier to do the work faster. However, I have struggled with the identification of epiphyses at even an earlier state of formation as presented in this book, when they still all look pretty much the same, rounded, just a few millimeters in breath. Therefore I hope the next book will still present even earlier states of epiphyseal formation. However so far this is the best book about Juvenile osteology to use in laboratory work. Thank you for this helpful and simple to use reference book!

Fantastic resource for the field
Like the print edition of this manual, the Kindle edition is packed with useful information for any archaeologist or biological anthropologist working with juvenile remains. The fact that it now can be read on a portable electronic device makes it perfect for bringing into the field. There are, however, a couple problems. First, there are no page numbers, meaning that if you need to reference this manual, you will have to refer back to a print edition. Kindle is phasing in page numbers, so let's hope this changes. Also, the formatting of the tables can be somewhat difficult to decipher at first, but it doesn't take long to get used to.

though I highly recommend buying the biggest version of this book
This book has a suitable amount of information, though I highly recommend buying the biggest version of this book. It has a significant amount more information and is incredibly useful despite its high price tag!

Amazing Book
I have Human Osteology and Comparative Osteology that I used for class and my Internship, and this one has so much detail relating to juvenile Osteology. The spiral binding is also great and makes it a lot easier to use!Definitely would recommend getting this

Very good working tool for methods of estimating the age of juveniles. The format facilitates its transport although it's a spiral-bound book so it must be handle with care.
