For Mom
We purchased the MedReady for my 81 year old Mom who lives alone and wants to stay independently living for as long as possible. She had begun having days when she was confused and not sure if she had taken her pills or not. We first tried the plastic pill containers with Sunday through Saturday on them, but she became confused then over what day it was and which 'S' was for which day and which 'T' was for which day as well. Then she began needing pills morning and evening. The MedReady dispenser has been a life saver. It is set now so that she gets her morning, afternoon and evening pills without me having to drive 20 miles round trip to make sure Mom is taking the right pills or calling her to remind her that it's time to take some more medications. The only challenges we had with it at first was making sure that Mom pushed the 'door' open far enough to reset the spring mechanism that turns off the alarm and sets it for the next turn of the pill tray. It's not difficult to push the door open and takes no strength to do so, you just have to push it up far enough. Once Mom got that down though, she loved it and even told us that she is very happy with her 'pill thingy' :) It's not so loud that the neighbors hear it, but it is loud enough to get her attention no matter where she is in the house. If you or your parents are forgetting when to take their meds, this will certainly aid in that!!

It was very easy to program and to set the meds up
We bought this for our 86 year old mother who had been getting confused on her medication and was not taking correctly. It was to a point that my sister, who lives in same small town, was having to go out several times a day to help. We couldn't leave the pill box with mom as we always had before. We were to the point of looking into assistance to come to her home to help. I had made s call to our county DHS service and they told me about Med Ready. I ordered it and had it in a couple of days. It was very easy to program and to set the meds up. It has changed moms(and our) lives for the best. Mom is doing amazing now and we can not be more thankful that we found the machine. Not taking her meds correctly had obviously really thrown her off regarding her moods and appetite. We have not had one bad day since mom started with the MedReady and believe me we were having a lot of bad days before that. We were getting calls at work from mom all the time to point where it was a huge problem. But we no longer are experiencing any of that. Mom is like a new person!! We are more than thankful for the MedReady machine. I hope more elderly people experiencing problems like my mom was having can find the machine and benefit from it like our family has. It's been the answer to our prayers! thank you!

MedReady Dispenser is a Godsend!
We'd tried everything for my 75-yr-old mother-in-law, who has no short-term memory. Prior to her severe memory loss, she was addicted to pain killers, with overdoses sending her to the hospital. She was either skipping most of her medications or overdosing on them! The MedReady Basic Pill Dispenser with Alarm P1600 seemed to be just what we were looking for. We set it up next to her chair. We had to tape instructions on it for her, so she could read them when the alarm goes off. We still occasionally call her and have her check to see if any pills are in the slot. If it's empty, I know she's taken her meds. That's the biggest thing with this dispenser...if you're getting it for someone with little or no memory, they may not remember what to do when the alarm goes off... or if they took their pills when it went off. She still occasionally misses a dose but nowhere near as many as she did with other forms of dispensing. Now my only recommendation would be for them to create an alarm that they can carry on their person, so if they aren't near the dispenser, they will still hear the alarm and know they have to go get their medication. Or how about one we can set a recording to give them instructions? Obviously, it still needs to be refilled by someone else. Overall, we love it. It has helped them to continue living on their own.

I really like it...
The Med Ready 1600 has taken the fearful daily question of "Did I take my a.m. meds today?" and put it into the strong "YES!"category. It gives me peace of mind as well as improved alertness since the dosing is consistent. My adult son put my tablets into it-set the time- and the alarm can be heard throughout the apartment. I appreciate that it is easy to turn off and the "door" with tabletsis open with tablets visible. My son will come by every 2 weeks to refill dispenser- as my memory issues require that I don't try it myself. My only complaint is that the unit "chatters" & "rattles" until alarm turned off...unit will "walk" if on a flat tabletop! Placing atowel under unit stopped the walking--& muffled the alarm a bit. Like my unit & the peace of mind, Nickybird's Mom

Bought for elderly aunt because it is the model that the Home Health Agency had lent her and she was familiar with it.It has a LOUD beeper at medication time, but Aunt B is hard of hearing and that is just what she needs. The beeper turns off once the little cover over the bin is opened. There is one precaution: Once the tray is loaded with all the pills, it must remain level. If it is tilted more than 45degrees off level, the pills can come out of their little bins and mix together. It can be picked up and moved, one just has to be cautious. Aunt B has it sitting on her table and since it is plugged in for power, she doesn't move it about.

Disappointed
Chronic issues with the lid. Very cheap lid to keep product light, but made it very difficulty to get on properly. Sometimes it took literally 2-3 min of fiddling to get it on. Also had chronic issues with the tray not advancing. The support team let us send it back due to questionable charging issues and they were very helpful overall. In the end, since it would not advance the tray and I was leaving 3 meds out of the trays to lighten the load enough for the tray to advance (which did NOT help my mom at all remember to take these 3 meds!!!) we went back to the simple pop up lid box type dispenser. This product is a great idea, but not OK if you have mom or dad who take the heavier multivitamins, D3 tablets etc.
