Finlay Donovan Knocks 'Em Dead: A Novel

Fun mystery
Recently divorced writer Finlay Donovan is struggling to write her new novel and juggle single motherhood to her young children, toddler Zach and 4 year old Delia. She thought she’d left her brush with the Russian mafia behind her, but when she inadvertently discovers someone on a social media site for women is looking for an assassin to kill her ex-husband Steven, she finds herself embroiled in a whole lot of trouble again. Not only does Finlay have to save her ex-husband, who despite all his faults is a great father to Zach and Delia, but her nanny/friend Vero has problems of her own and just to complicate life further they once again stumble over a dead body. Her love life is almost as complicated with her no strings attached relationship with law student/bartender Julian and her growing attraction to her sister’s detective colleague Nick, who also clearly has eyes for her. This is a smart and funny rom-com/mystery which sees Finlay and her sidekick Vero get into and out of tangled messes while causing mayhem along the way. An engaging read, perfect for relaxing while on holiday or at the beach.

Even Better than the First Book in the Series!
I'm not usually a mystery reader, but a friend loaned me the first book in this series and I was hooked. Elle Cosimano is an amazing writer. Her main character is a single mom whose nanny is her partner in crime and best friend, and the back and forth between the two as they solve crimes is absolutely hilarious. The Finlay Donovan series may be the funniest I've ever read. And it's soon to be a film series. This is NOT your normal mystery series. It's a unique hybrid you don't want to miss. I'm counting down the days (13) until Cosimano's next book in the series is released!

A great follow up from the first book
4.5/5This was a good, fun, twisting sequel to this series. Finlay and Vero are such badass female characters!Someone put a hit on Steven (Finlay’s ex husband), and it wasn’t Finlay. Finlay and Vero have to figure out who wants Steven dead, before they can succeed. Just like in the first book, there’s lost of funny situations they get themselves into. This book kept me reading to find out what was going to happen. I can’t wait for the 3rd book to come out so I can read more of Finlay’s story!

Fun Series
This is the second book I’m the Finlay Donovan series that I’ve read. With plot twists coming fast and furious enough to give you whiplash, it’s a most entertaining read. The characters are vividly portrayed with real-life -sized problems amid the wildly improbable. A good book to escape one’s own problems.

I'm not a huge fan of this series BUT for some reason I have to keep reading. I want to know more. I want to know what happens next. I like Finlay and Vero. I like that Finlay is a single mother. I cannot stand Steven. He makes me not want to read this series. Maybe that why I'm not a huge fan? He is annoying. I'm glad Finlay doesn't want a relationship with him. I hope they never get back together. Speaking of relationships, I'm not crazy about Julian or Nick. I want Finlay and Vero. Not romantically but just them. Two women not killing and hunting down online contract killers. Wonderful duo.

A FUN STORY WITH INTERESTING CHARACTERS
Finlay Donovan is—once again—struggling to finish her next novel and keep her head above water as a single mother of two. On the bright side, she has her live-in nanny and confidant Vero to rely on, and the only dead body she’s dealt with lately is that of her daughter’s pet goldfish. On the not-so-bright side, someone out there wants her ex-husband, Steven, out of the picture. Permanently. Whatever else Steven may be, he’s a good father, but saving him will send her down a rabbit hole of hit-women disguised as soccer moms, and a little bit more involvement with the Russian mob than she’d like. Meanwhile, Vero’s keeping secrets, and Detective Nick Anthony seems determined to get back into her life. He may be a hot cop, but Finlay’s first priority is preventing her family from sleeping with the fishes… and if that means bending a few laws then so be it. With her next book’s deadline looming and an ex-husband to keep alive, Finlay is quickly coming to the end of her rope. She can only hope there isn’t a noose at the end of it…mythoughts-laurelrainsnow-serendipityAs we dive into Finlay Donovan Knocks ‘Em Dead, we are rapidly turning pages and trying to keep track of all the twists and turns. As usual, Finlay is funny and a character we want to root for. I am not so sure about her nanny Vero, however, and hope that whatever she is up to doesn’t ruin things.A unique website offers some answers about what might be going on with some of the characters. But will Finlay figure things out so she and those she cares about can be safe? I liked how the ending wrapped up, so I give this one 4.5 stars.

no decepciona
