Incredible Follow Up to "Tyrell"
Coe Booth has quickly become my favorite author as I've read both "Kendra", and "Tyrell" amazing products of heart, creativity, and talent. "Bronxwood" was spectacular, and way better than I initially expected. Usually, when you fall in love with a novel, your often disappointed with it's sequel but "Bronxwood" did not fail me as a "Tyrell" fan. The first thing that "Bronxwood" does is allow you as a reader to become more connected to the life he lives, his feelings, his background, and his drive to do better. The one thing that I admire about the character Tyrell is, like myself he tries very hard not to fall into the traps that people around him have fallen into. It's easy for people, especially African-American young men to duplicate what they see. However, Tyrell is a LEADER and not a follower, and that is the biggest quality he carries. The book was also way more exciting than the original. Which is what most sequels fail to do. Instead of trying to retell us what happened in the first book, she creates a totally different story that continues to show us the growth of Tyrell as he grows into his own man. Overall, Tyrell's story is incredible, entertaining, and relatable. KUDOS to Ms. Coe Booth, and I hope she continues to give us her talent with more books surrounding Tyrell. I also am extremely interested in reading a book surrounding Jasmine, as her character is the Bonnie to Tyrell's Clyde. I'm ready to see them take a life on together outside of Bronxwood.

A poignant and realistic YA novel
I fell in love with Coe Booth's writing when she debuted with TYRELL. She came to speak at a writer's workshop I had participated in when I was Tyrell's age, and I admired her willingness to write about young African American characters with an honesty about their diverse perspectives and life experiences.I have been highly anticipating BRONXWOOD. After downloading it onto my Kindle, I couldn't stop reading. This novel endeared me more to Tyrell than ever before as he experiences his own coming-of-age prompted by his father's release from jail. The scenes in which the characters confront each other (vague, but I don't want to spoil the plot!) were all realistic and "high stakes." I teared up at the end both because I felt like I "knew" Tyrell, and also because I witnessed his dramatic growth.I am very happy that this novel humanizes Tyrell as a African American teenage male. Great job, Ms. Booth.

I really enjoyed this book!! I enjoyed Tyrell and Kendra as well and I cannot wait to read about Tyrell again. Tyrell is tested so many times and he is still standing. Coe Booth I really enjoyed your books, they are so true for many of our teenagers but these books shows that if you want something, never give up no matter what your age is. Very impressed!!! So ready for the third book involving Tyrell!!!

another journey
just when I think that Tyrell life can't get any worst here he is living with his bestfriend cal he think that he is living the life over there but comes to find out he have to be the responsible one over at his friends house because to me nobody just didn't care about how the house was looking except Tyrell but I just couldn't believe his parents to me he act like he was the parent instead of the child but one thing I couldn't stand about his father its like if he knew that his child wanted to go home in it is not safe where he is staying at I don't know why that his father could say that he wanted him to come home so they can be a family but that was not his words it was like he wanted Tyrell to beg to come home I just didn't get him in also he didn't give him any credit on what he had done for the family while he was gone it was just like he was knocking him down for everything he had did. I just love this knew relationship with him in jasmine because to me it was a long time coming I just love how jasmine like to know what is going on in his life but I just wish that jasmine should of told him what was going on in her life too but I just can't wait for a 3 book of Tyrell because I wanna know what go happen between him in jasmine . In the mean time I will be reading Kendra because I wanna know more about this adona girl
