Astric Dry-Bed Bedwetting Alarm

I have been waiting patiently for my daughter to achieve a dry night and at the time of writing, she has been dry of 3 out of the last 4 nights. She had her first dry night after just 2 and a half weeks of use.This is the second bed wetting alarm I have owned. The last one I bought was more expensive and failed miserably.BackgroundMy daughter is 6 years old and had never been dry. She had been referred to an Enuresis clinic and I was waiting for her first appointment when I purchased this alarm.This alarm is brilliant for the following reasons:It keeps the bed dry.This product consists of a waterproof mat, which keeps the bed dry. Unless your child produces excessive amounts of urine on wetting the underlying sheets will remain dry and all you will need to do is change the top sheet and clean the mat. This takes no time at all and I had the bed ready again by the time my daughter had gone to the loo and changed her underwear. I kept a roll of kitchen towel and spare top sheets in her room at the ready.It is easy for the child to disconnect the alarm.The mat simply plugs into a battery operated unit, which is kept on the bedside table next to a night-light. The alarm is very loud. When the child wakes it is easy to disconnect quickly even if the child is half asleep.No fiddly attachments for the child to cope with.This product works without attachments to the child. The last one I had involved attaching a sensor to special pants which was difficult for my daughter to cope with when half asleep.No special underwearThe child wears their own underwear, which means less expense! The previous alarm I had involved expensive underwear which needed to be washed several times to become sensitive enough to activate the alarm quickly, leaving my child and the bed completely soaked before it went off.The system is responsiveThe mat is sensitive and the alarm will sound at the first touch of urine.Long battery lifeThe alarm unit comes with a battery that is designed to last in excess of 12 months, unlike my first alarm where I had to change the battery within a couple of days. Your child will be cured long before you need to worry about the battery.TIPSThe unit is also sensitive to sweat which can trigger false alarms. This happened to me a couple of times. Prevent this by folding a flannelette sheet in half so it doubles-up and absorbs excessive sweat before it can set the alarm off. I bought large flannelette sheets and cut them to size.All you need on top of the mat is a flannelette strip of sheet (folded as explained above) , large enough to easily cover the mat and long enough to be tightly tucked in on both sides.Use a night-light to gently illuminate the unit. I used my daughter's baby monitor, which comes with a night-light on the child's unit. This meant that I could hear the alarm and did not have to be in the same room with her once she got used to it. It is a good idea to stay in the child's room for the first few nights until they are accustomed to the new routine. The alarm is very loud.HydrationKeep your child's fluid levels up. I was advised 1 to 1.5 litres per day for the age of my child. This helps to increase the capacity of the bladder. My daughter's school helped with this. Speak to your GP about this if you are unsure.I am so happy now that after all these years I can see an end to expensive pull-ups. This product is worth every penny and with junior pull-ups costing roughly £1 a time, it will more than pay for itself. My daughter is so proud of herself. She never believed she could be dry. I am so relieved and happy for her!

Great product for getting a 6 year old to train their brain to go to the toilet at night or to hold it in until morning. Only took him 4 weeks. Best buy ever and we now have a happy boy who no longer wets the bed at night.

I have to admit that I was sceptical about this, having tried most other things in the past, a personal alarm, hypnosis, workbooks etc. I had not purchased this before due to the cost but had to take the plunge as my 8 year old daughter is big for her age and growing out of the night time pull-ups. The first two nights the mat kept going off due to false alarms but after reading the instructions again and adjusting the bedding we only had the appropriate alarms. I fitted a baby monitor to her room and mine so I could hear the alarm going off and react quickly with help. After 2 weeks the sopping wet puddles had reduced to damp patches and the third week was completely dry! I am amazed this has worked so well so quickly. We are now on our 11th dry consecutive night with no set backs. One happy Mummy and one happy Daughter! Would thoroughly recommend this product.

My daughter started wetting 18 months ago so I purchased this as a last resort as we've tried everything else. The mat is on the small side. It's plastic that makes a noise every time the child moves and not exactly comfortable. The first unit failed within days so I returned it, was refunded & ordered another one as I thought I'd just got a dodgy unit. Fast forward less than 3 months later and the second one has gone exactly the same. The unit no longer sounds, it just makes a clicking noise from time to time. For the price of it, the unit and mat are poor. It's such a shame as when it was working the bedwetting stopped. Luckily as it comes with a 2 year guarantee Amazon have arranged a return and a refund. Won't be wasting my time or money ordering another one. I wouldn't recommend at all. Poor quality, expensive & faulty.

I’ve been itching to write this review for weeks as I can’t believe what a transformation this has made to my daughter’s life! I have twin girls aged 9. One has been dry at night for over three years and the other never except a few dry nights here and there. When it got to her 9th birthday I had to look for something to help. I’d previously only tried going cold turkey a few times (unsuccessfully). I came across this product and to be honest it was the first time I’d seen it, even though I’ve sought out solutions many times.Anyway, fully dry by week 7 and a further 21 days using the pad to make sure.The first three nights were awful. Everyone in the house woke up except my daughter. We had to wake her, she got very upset and we had to change the whole bed. I didn’t think I could do a 4th night but we persevered and she never had a fully wet bed after that point! She had about a week of part dry nights, so the alarm would go off but we still had to wake her and send her to the loo and then we started to see some dry nights! For a part dry night the pad can be washed and your little one back sleeping in about 5 mins. It was great and from week 3 and 4 we had many dry nights where she started to wake and go to the loo herself.About week 6 we had regression so I called for advice and we changed the tone of the alarm and that seemed to work. The support line is fantastic. Really good advice and I used it three times.The product is easy to use - I just used a double flat flanelette sheet folded over the pad tucked in and it worked well. It’s quite a simple product, but I work out that it costs the same as 6 months of Dry Nites, so in a few weeks from now I’ll have re-couped my initial outlay. Worth every penny.Wish I’d found this earlier. Can’t praise it highly enough. Thank you Astric. 🙏

My son was 6 and still wetting the bed. We ha decided it wasn't getting any better and would go to the doctors. The nhs website states that first a doctor will ask you to make a log of the bed wetting and first use an alarm, before doing anything else further. So we thought being difficult to see a doctor, doing this first would be best and hit the ground running. The nhs recommended this product, so went with that first.10 weeks after purchase and he's been dry for 3 weeks now!The alarm comes with a booklet that explains how to go about using it and the psychology behind how it works. It also has a chart on the back to fill in, so also ticks that box. The pad is slightly smaller than I'd like, but did the job.There are a few things to bare in mind. As with anything where you are looking to train, this product will only be as good as the person using it. You must read the manual fully and appreciate the importance of consistency. The manufacturer says to use a blanket on top to stop false alarms, the child must be talked through how it works and what they need to do, they must also be fully woken up when the alarm has gone off, they must also be the one to turn it on and off. If these important parts are missed or altered, it will not be as effective. But if followed correctly, it proves to work very well.It has worked brilliantly for us and i cannot recommend it enough.

Summary: 1 m later my daughter started wetting the bed again everynight. Now the ala no longer works. So not very durable. Also It is a bit like hard plastic so not very comfortable for my daughter. Regardless, it worked very well initially. Now it is broken and cannot use anymore after 2 months of usage.

This mat when following the instructions did work for a few weeks. The alarm is sensitive you have to put the mat on top of the mattress protector and then a small towel over the mat and then the fitted sheet over the mat and towel to keep it in place. The mat alarm is loud and it woke up my daughter who never woke up to the alarms we previously tried. She had a few dry nights over a months time, but more importantly the alarm worked to wake her up and she would "finish peeing" in the toilet. While making up the bed one day the alarm fell on the ground and it quite working. I am giving this 3 stars because after one fall I feel a 130 euro alarm system should still work.

Erstens: die Box wo die Baterien sind ist billig verarbeitet - da steht micht mal wo + / - ist und beide Federn waren auf der selben Seite. Ich denke recht unbequem auf plastik zu schlafen... außerdem hat es in der ersten Nacht 3x Grundlos Alarm geschlagen. Ging am nächsten Morgen gleich zurück.
