Sochi 2014 Travel Guide: Making the Most of Your Visit to Sochi and the Olympic Games.

I was excited to have found a guide that appeared to be so taylor made-I'm off to Sochi in Connection with the WInter Olympics.I had hoped for some detailed hotel, restaurant and bar information. This information is just lists, especially the restaurant info which doesn't tell you what kind of food many of the listed establishments serve. I suspect you'd do better off Trip Advisor. The guide made many observations about they joys of Sochi in the summer which was irritating as the guide's tittle suggests it written with the Winter Olympics in mind. I would suggest a copy of the relevant Planet or Rough guide, the Local Tourist info. In fairness it does provide you with an over view of the area and the Olympic layout, but the maps used appear to be lifted off the internet and are too small.Spend your money on another guide. I would say this thin paperback is worth between £5-10 at best.

I went to Sochi for the winter olympics and found this book to be almost useless.- None of the maps show any scale. So you don't know if the distances are in blocks or miles. Maps were just copied from Google with little added.- Not mentioned that Sochi has almose no street signs.- The olympic games were anything but " compact ". It takes about 50 minutes to get to the Coastal Cluster from Sochi and another 45 minute walk till you get to the events. Thank goodness for the young Russian tour guides to point the way. TheMountain Cluster is an hour and forty five minute ride and a mile walk, two trams up.- The London Bar has goons outside to keep anyone out who doesn't have a reservation.Anyway this no longer matters since the olympics have long past. For member of Amazon I suggest you think before wasting you money on anything written by this author, a Mr. Philipov
