First chapter on devotion is solid
My first time reading the author and I have to be honest, I bought it because I felt the need to read at least one book from Buckland, Ravenwolf, Cabbot, Leland, etc just to get a feel for how modern Paganism all began and progressed. I didn’t expect to like the book. Chapter one is probably the best text I’ve read about grounding and centering and offers lots of great inspiration for devotionals throughout the day and evening as the first practice or mystery. Her writing style is a bit gritty as some had warned but she’s a mother of 4 and grandmother as well as someone’s wife and held everything I’m her life together while being a successful published author and high priestess of 18 covens nationally, so as far as her gritty personality and her way of being a bit snide about certain topics, it doesn’t phase me. There are enough Wicca 101 books that the author is totally “pc” on the market and it’s not a prerequisite of mine for the author to filter their opinions for me to read their book. The style it’s written in is fun and easy to read and holds my attention. She is an amazing descriptor when writing about environments, ambiance and settings which honestly swallowed me inside the book. Lastly she gives you things to practice and in order. For me, I like that a lot. I’m looking to incorporate more basics in my craft since I started off fast and hard with Dream Work, Divination and then Crystals from 18 to 42. I’m looking for a solid practice that’s consistent and feels right for me right now. Ravenwolf does an excellent job of this.

Great Reference - Use The Knowledge
This book, like all of Silver RavenWolf's books, is full of great information for the wiccan way of life. Whether starting out, just curious, or adding knowledge to your library, her books are a wonderful addition. For someone who is not so much starting out as embracing what has always been there, I really enjoy her books. It is evident that she leans strongly towards a specific sect and is more religious in regards to her practice than I am. I realized this with To Ride A Silver Broomstick. Not everyone feels that Wicca is a religion, but more of a lifestyle. I fall into the latter. I ignore these references, but I can see how that can be difficult for some. I am in this for growing my knowledge and expanding my gifts. Just because she can't remove her personal side from the book doesn't mean I can't take advantage of the references and knowledge. This is a great follow up to the Broomstick book and an excellent continuation to the reference material. Delving deeper in regards to conjuring, spell work, and casting circles. I ignore the religious undertone and take away the knowledge, which is what I would suggest to anyone to do who is starting out until you decide your path. I'm eclectic and solitary, I take away what calls to me and push aside what doesn't. I don't always agree with her way of thinking. She does put a lot of herself in the books but does include the basics for starters. I like reading her books because we don't see eye to eye. For example, I will never use glitter in a spell or ritual. I don't have a stereotypical alter, but what I call a witchy corner. I also cast my circles differently. These books though gave me a starting point. She's not the only one I use for reference.I suggest taking the knowledge and experience to enhance your own skills, and use as stepping stones to alter and make them work for you. The rest is just advice that you can decide to follow or not.

Get all three
The last in this series. Buy them all, you'll be glad you did. Great resource for the new solitary pagan.

Wrong edition thanks👍
The book is the correct title. The seller's listing however, was not clear that it was a previous edition which I find infuriating for multiple reasons. The listing stated shelf wear, and did not say it may be the previous edition which I find childishly cartoonish and demeaning as such, as well as off-putting.

Another option for learning
I truly enjoy reading a variety of books that shows me different and insightful views along my chosen path. This book was very informative, showing me yet another vision of the faith. With each writing and the author's take on things, gives me more and more information that allows me to make my ideas and decisions on how I wish to walk.I do not recommend taking each book at its face value, accepting everything as written in stone. Instead, I allow all information in, and based on the varied readings, use them all as a whole, deciding what I feel is right for me.I would definitely recommend this book to anyone looking to broaden their horizons and looking to fill your need for more and more feeding of the soul.

a very spiritual book.
I like when Silver says, "Spirituality is the hub of the Wiccan religion. Without it, magickal achievements quickly degenerate in the face of the complexities of everyday life. Magick without Divinity has caused many downfalls,....Success in Witchcraft requires serious application of the mind guided by the spirituality of the soul." This attitude and insight is so important and the main reason I like this book so much. It made me think of another witch who wrote good books. Then I got a hold of a new one that was so dark. I don't know what happened!? I think that witch forgot her spiritual life. We all have a life outside the craft. The part that knows divinity and has a conscious.I like how Silver has 'Your Work' parts every few pages. This book could transform your life! I study it a little a day. It is rich with spiritual knowledge. Divinity bless everyone who opens it!Amy Susanna

Must read for those contemplating or embarking on a Magickal path!
Informative, directional and at times humorous. Whether you are beginning or wondering about a Magickal path this book is a must read. For those already following their path this is also a must read. It reminds you why you are on this journey. So happy I purchased it! I can highly recommend this book!
