Great introduction
I found this book to be a very good introduction to the topic. There is a useful math and physics review that most people can figure out with a bit of effort. The meat of this text is written in an accessible way that assumes little to no prior knowledge. Great gateway text for further reading or even formal studies. A bonus is that the author is responsive by email and will send a pdf version if you ask (and have purchased the print version of course)
