In the second installment of author R.J. Johnson’s Dreamslinger series, Skyfire, new characters encounter new artifacts that appear as mere stones yet convey unimaginable powers to their holders. As in the first book, Dreamslinger, the characters are vital people whose lives are disrupted in different ways by their encounters with the Dreamslinger stones. The main protagonist from the first book, Alex McCray, returns, now possessing two of these stones as does his enemy, billionaire Rupert Kline. But the discovery of two new stones on two separate continents attract both men.The action comes early and often providing multiple life and death decisions for each of the main characters. Each new stone provides a unique and ever more astounding power to its bearer placing them and innocent (and not so innocent) bystanders in constant peril.As in its predecessor, the character of each person in this story is instrumental to how the adventure will proceed. They are real, they are flawed, and often one thing on the surface with something unexpected beneath. The author provides us a better understanding of Alex, the dark secret in his past, and his relationship with former love Emily Harper, while introducing rich new characters including an obsessed archeology professor on an exploration to Peru, and a Zambian mining supervisor who loves his family. There are multiple references to nuclear power in this story, and it is a nice analogy for the power that resides in each of the Dreamslinger stones. Power to do immense good or immense evil. To heal or destroy. And that power is directed not by the personality of the bearer, but by their core values. Values they may not truly recognize until they are provided with the power to do great or horrible things. Buy this book. Read this book. You will truly benefit from the experience.

A really fun sequel to the first novel in the series. For you scifi fans this one will pull you in with a great story line, characters & plot twists. Once you begin, it'll be hard to put down.

another great entry in the Dreamslinger series, it was what I've come to expect from the series and from the author. I enjoyed the story itself and was hooked from the first page.
