A really good racing game, with lots of influences from the SEGA universe!
Having bought this after Mario Kart 8 was released, this game had an impossibly high bar to reach. Simply put, Mario Kart 8, in my opinion, is the best racing game every made, for lots of reasons. But after some playing, this game shocked me with a few things that put it right up there - not that far from MK8, in my estimation!First, the name - or rather part of it - Sonic All-Stars Racing TRANSFORMED - is quite key here, since you flip between car, boat, and plane numerous times during a race. The transformation appears a big gimmicky to begin with, but given the incredible tracks, you soon find it's necessary. Just to note also that you don't manually control the transformation, it's done automatically as you go through certain zones of each track.Speaking of tracks, well done SEGA - they are huge, detailed, well-executed and long - and they draw on the rich heritage of games that Sega has made over the years - remember Golden Axe, Altered Beast, and other Sega Megadrive classics? Well there are influences all over the place, and again, very well done.Another standout feature, and one which it trumps MK8 with, is delivering full-screen play to two players - how? - well, whoever is using the large master controller of the WiiU gets the game full-screen on their controller, and the other player gets fullscreen on the TV you are using. Now there does appear to be a resolution impact, but it's still perfectly serviceable and much more enjoyable than playing split-screen!This game doesn't have quite the finesse that MK8 does in terms of controller options - specifically drifting feels less precise, sometimes annoyingly so - and it also falls short occasionally in the graphics departments - which seems incredible to say given the great tracks, but MK8 is that much newer (2 years!), and amazing in terms of its graphical design.Overall though, this is a great game - with lots of varied fun to keep you entertained, and a superb two-player option - if you can pick one up for a sensible price, it comes highly recommended!

SuperSonic SEEEEGAAAA
Yet again, i'm writing a review after originally playing a demo and not liking it. What was I thinking! Once you get use to the controls and transforming from a car to a boat to a plane, this game is sheer enjoyment. The graphics are pure Sega (SEEEEGAAAA!) brought to us by Nintendo, which makes them even better, they offer pure joy. The races are addictive, coming 3rd is never quite enough and you always want to try to better yourself for Second, if not First. There are four modes, the main mode: the incredible world tour, you take legendary All Stars characters and have to come 3rd to progress onto the next race and eventually complete the game. Throughout the game, there are pickups that allow you to take out competitors and claim their position. Then there is Battle mode, which to be honest I have not tried yet, but I'm sure it will be great. However at this point I'd just like to point out that I have never been a car-gamer, until now. OK this may not be WRC - World Rally Championship, but you still have to control the vehicle, steer, accelerate, brake and drift around corners. The Grand Prix level is by far the gem in this game. There are 10 Grand Prix levels, each with four races and you score points on the position you finish, the points are then accumulated and that defines the position you occupy on the leader board. Coming second just is not an option, I find myself playing it over and over it until I win the Grand Prix level. This game is great, well done Wii U (again!), try it to believe it.

Its not bad
Graphics and gameplay are really good fun, had a great time playing it with my friends. My problem with it is the limited characters!! Don't get me wrong they can be unlocked but so far I have not managed to unlock any due to the difficulty of this game! To unlock characters you must complete levels on the hardest difficulty section something I have struggled to do (so how kids are meant to do this I have no idea??)New levels are unlocked as you progress through the career mode which is great!Have not managed to play online yet as it tried to connect to the servers but i gave up after waiting 5 minutes! I have good internet connection and speed at my place so must assume its the game/servers and not my internet!Racing is great fun and battle mode is great too (although was over pretty quick when we played it!), so would recommend this game as it seems to be one of the best available on the Wii U at the moment.

Decent and speedy fun
Having recently bought a Wii U, our entire family is happily playing with Mario Kart 8 and a friend recommended to get Sonic and All Stars Racing Transformed as another worthy racing title. I find it amazing that being as an absolutely casual gamer well in his 30s can quickly turn into a 12-year old and have immense fun with this. The graphics are well designed, sometimes , sense of speed is crazy and the tracks are diverse enough to keep you entertained for hours. Also, it's often possible to get this at a relatively low price so I think it's a decent addition to any Wii U racing collection as it has a great sense of fun. I picked it up for a tenner, it was well worth it.The negative points are mostly minor but I think they justify that one star taken away. The perceivable smoothness of motion is somewhat lacking when compared to Nintendo's 60 fps capable titles. The game's characters aren't that well detailed sometimes and I found the audio production rather appalling or just poor at times. Configuring a second controller for multiplayer modes is also a real pain, still couldn't figure it out. It is also weird that I found no split screen mode for local multiplayer, the second player gets the gamepad screen and that's it.These minor annoyances can still quickly fade away when you race through the career mode and try to beat your opponents.

Juegazo imprescindible
