These “no no” arm restraints have been so helpful for us!
I can never usually find the time to review items the way I wish I could but I’m making sure I do for this one!! My son had his cleft palate repair surgery this month and these have worked really well for us. We are using them to avoid hands and toys in the mouth while he recovers. I’m honestly not sure why they have such low ratings so I wanted to bring some positive awareness to them. I will start off by saying they don’t have any kind of helpful sizing chart so I did order an extra small pair and a small pair just because I didn’t really know what to expect as far as sizing. For reference my son is 1 year old, 23 pounds and 27 inches long. Both the extra small and the small fit him fine but we have preferred using the extra small because they take up less room on his arm while offering the same amount of bending resistance as the size small. In my attached photo my son has on the extra small pair. The hospital did provide us with a pair of hospital grade no no’s but my son runs naturally hot and would have damp arms from sweating so bad under them so I set out to find a better pair. I wasn’t met with a ton of options on Amazon so I just went with this pair and I’m really glad I did. They have two strong Velcro straps on each brace, one on the top and one on the bottom. There’s also gaps of open space throughout the brace that leaves breathing room so they aren’t getting super hot. We have been doing a long sleeve pj most days and just Velcro these on top of the shirt. We’ve had no issues with him sliding them off or them being too tight and he honestly doesn’t even really mind having them on. He has not had any problems with them leaving bruises or hurtful marks like other reviewers have stated. We put the center of the brace at his elbow and strap it in place there and it’s done its job nicely. I would definetely recommend these.

Fell apart
It fell apart within the first two weeks. My son is an 8 yr old autistic child. Was looking for something to keep him from hitting himself, this product didn’t work.

Cleft Lip and Palate repair
My son had a cleft lip and palate repair and is not allowed to touch his face while he recovers. The one’s from the hospital were itchy, scratchy, bulky, and constantly fell off. These ones stay on and are much more comfortable. They gave him more movement but still prevented him from injuring his surgical sites.

They are okay
Ordered these for my niece with Down Syndrome in an effort to keep her glasses on. The item is fine as long as she allows it. Once she decides she is over her glasses these bands do not stop her.

Does what it’s supposed to do, but…
It fits my 5-yr-old well, she’s had a thumb sucking habit her whole life that’s been so hard to break. We’ve tried everything else before purchasing. It definitely holds her arm in place so she can’t get her hands to her mouth. However, there are a few issues.First one being comfort. She complains often about it hurting her arm. At first, I assumed she was just trying to get out of wearing it, but she is still complaining the next day and now every time it’s taken off she holds her arm and whines when it’s put straight again. I feel so terrible about making her wear it at all now and will not put it on her again. I’m not sure if it’s because of the quality of the product or just her arms being weaker/more sensitive. I definitely wouldn’t recommend this for smaller child. The second issue is simply how easy it is for my daughter to remove it. I did only order one since she only sucks one specific thumb but both arms being locked would definitely make that harder, so no points docked there.Overall, my daughter has stopped sucking her thumb during the day at all now so it did lead to progress which is why I gave it any stars. But my main concern about bedtime still exists and I’m scared to put it back on her out of concern for her comfort and possible strain on her arm.
